What on earth did we spend $226M on?

many of these bonds are bonds from years(10-20) back or even really old bonds that get refinanced

Just a reminder that all of you that get the Longhorn Network are making significant monthly contributions to pay down the Texas debt.

Which still doesn't and will likely never include Comcast, the largest single provider.

Well since you didn't read the content either...

let's face it, your panties are in a bundle because of at least one thing(LSU is listed on a chart as having a lot of debt, which they do) and probably at least one more thing(OP is a bama fan)

FYI on Dec 31 2015, TAF had $204,667,276.00 in outstanding debt from a total of 4 bonds

I was thinking 2016 or I was about to say how did the get an audit out so fast.

Athletic department is June 30th Year end

Why does the $204 not tie to the statement of financial position (saw it in the foot note not questioned your number- this is why I do poorly on Governmental)

not really

True I was surprised by amount. I thought the SEC payout to the school was bigger? I only see $15M on the football line.

Honestly wasn't aware- accepted decline - Aggies are my rival

And we want to say thank you for contributing even more to the SEC Network.

Every Texas fan who is a cable subscriber in the state pays $1.40 a month for the SEC Network.

Every SEC fan in the state who subscribes to the LHN (which is not every cable subscriber in the state due to Comcast not having it) pays 29 cents a month for the channel.

I will take $1.40 from everyone any day over $0.29 from some people. Especially because the SEC, unlike the Longhorns, owns half of the SEC Network and therefore actually gets that money every month. The Longhorns get a set amount from the LHN no matter how many people subscribe.

The fact that you brag about it is the exact kind of Longhorn decision making that has yall arse deep in debt with dated facilities and a smaller stadium than us Aggies.

Y'all's facilities are really top notch for such a wealthy school and all...

College football seems to be a house of cards at the moment.

Dwindling attendance, and falling ratings for ESPN could mean financial ruin for some of these programs that have stretched themselves too far.

It is. Your point isn't going to be commented on much here though.

It's right in front of everyone's nose, yet posters here, school administrations, everyone doesn't seem to be noticing.

You haven't mentioned concussions, which is the other big thing close to blowing up. The technology for testing for this without having to cut out the brain is progressing rapidly.

If you google you can find a story about a high school team that did a brain scan of some sort before the season, and one after. Multiple cases of "brain changes" were detected. Anyway that genie isn't going in the bottle, yet it isn't talked about very much.

To go back to your original point, I really wonder how lucrative everything is going to be when a la carte pricing finally is attained with cable.

Is the SEC going to maintain a collective model for access to watching SEC sports over the internet? Will it be a wild west of individual schools setting up their own subscriptions, and hoping they actually make enough revenue?

It isn't really remarked on much, but one big strength of the SEC is how they kind of... act like a team, instead of having one school like Bevo show their butthole. Kind of think in the world that is coming the SEC probably tries to just transfer the SEC network to the internet.

I have a feeling though that no matter what, no school is ever going to make as much money from broadcast rights as they do now. It's the golden age, and it is about to end.

Ours is TAF's debt, the LSU AD has no debt.

interesting, this is the header from every page on a financial statement

quote:

Athletic Department, Louisiana State University

This is the title on the cover page

quote:

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM STATE OF LOUISIANA

And this was listed on the debt page

quote:

3. LONG-TERM LIABILITIES Bonds Payable - LSU Athletic Department

Are you saying the TAF is not under the LSU AD?

a la carte won't just apply to Cable if that's the case. The companies will then punish the "cord-cutters" by making their INTERNET a la carte.
