This is why Urban Meyer will pass Saban as the GOAT in college football.

Yeah, his QB evaluation skills have been awful. Cooper Bateman was splitting time at WR four months ago and now he's starting a critical game against a top ranked opponent? What changed so much over the past four months that Bateman went from being so buried in the QB depth chart that he had to split time at WR to being a first/second string QB? He also botched the QB situation last year but Blake Sims was able to come out of nowhere to save his arse. I believe he had the same problem at LSU as well. Imagine if LSU wasn't able to get minor league baseball player Matt Mauck to play QB for them. They would have had Marcus Randall as their starting QB in 2003. His legacy at LSU would have been a hell of a lot different if that had happened.

Cardale Jones is pedestrian at best lately. Don't include him in that group. He shined in the playoff but this season he ain't all that hot.

Saban also recruited Matt Flynn to LSU. And it was Saban, not LSU, that got Matt Mauck to LSU. Saban had unsuccessfully recruited him to Mich State when Saban what there.

that's not exactly true. but my observation is that Saban seems to not recruit the top talents at QB successfully. over the long haul.
as far as development, you are very wrong. those qb's on those NC's were average talents developed by the lord saban and company.
