Brad Wing is the best punter in the nation and that's not an opinion. If you've watched him there really is no argument

Disregard him, he's probably been in that Brad Wing thread on hogville stating Brad Wing is massively overrated, Pig punter is much better and Wing is not an NFL prospect. They can be quite delusional.

lol @ swope being first team from playing in the shite big 12-2-1+1

Yeah the Big 12 never has any talent at the receiver position. Biletnikoff and NFL Draft be damned!!!

Dylan Breeding had better stats than both those punters IIRC, and he's coming bac

Stats are the most misleading thing to use on punters, mostly because of field position. Net yardage is probably one of the most important stats, which I'm pretty sure Brad Wing easily led that considering he had like 1 actual return on him all year. He is easily the most accurate punter in the league and the reason why he never has punts returned on him is because he puts a lot of air underneath the ball yet still gets good range so the coverage gets to the returner almost as the ball gets there.

For instance Breeding might of had 1 more yard per punt, but what good does that do you when teams have an average return on you of 8 yards? If you don't get the hang time then the return can hurt you more.

If you want to look at any punting stat, look at this...

LSU - Net punt 41.15 yards (1st in SEC)
Arky - Net punt 37.57 yards (7th in SEC)

Dude you don't have to defend that conference anymore, you can now make fun of all your Big12 buddies
(although I agree about the WR's)

Exactly, teams had a total of like 1/2 yd of return yards on Wing last year. The Maze return was literally the only good return on LSU all year

There seems like there has been 2 unstoppable amazing all world receivers in the Big 12 for like the past 5 years. And their success doesn't seem to translate to the NFL nearly as well as the good receivers in the SEC.

Remember these names? Jordan Shipley, Dezmon Briscoe, Dez Bryant, Jeremy Maclin, Michael Crabtree. All put up crazy numbers in the big 12.

In one season both AJ Green and Julio Jones put up more yards than every single one of these players has ever had in a season. lol.

So basically what I am saying is that the Big 12 can't produce in a 5 year span, what the SEC can do twice in 1. And that is why it is LOL that Swope is 1st team. Thank you

*Much love to Jordy Nelson for being an outlier.

Steven Clark, the Ray Guy finalist is better than both so it's a moot point.

The ONLY reason Brad Wing didn't win that award is because he didn't have enough attempts
sorry we didn't punt enough

Well NFL production was never in my post. The Big 12, by the nature of its existence as a pass happy league, developed, produced and even attracted the top wide receiver talent in the country the last 4 or 5 years. So much more is expected out of the position in the Big 12, that of all the positions, on the field, WR and QB are two areas where the Big 12 rivals if not surpasses the SEC in talent. Did that translate to wins on the field? 6 in a row is your answer. Which is why I hate how my University has hired Mike Leach's hair gelled QB star to be its offensive coordinator, and which is why we will do so much worse than expected as a result.

But yes your list is filled with awesome players, Wes Welker should be in their somewhere.

Julio Jones (2011) 54 rec, 959 Yds, 8 TD
Jeremy Maclin (2010) 70 rec, 964, 10 TD

Shipley was the product of a spread WR as was Crabtree (who is a punk diva as well), Briscoe always was a piece of shite

And that is detracting from what I am saying. System is just a general trend, it obviously develops the talent at a premium relative to other offensive systems, but at the end of the say I think Swope is first team because he is quite simply the single best wide receiver in the SEC.

I mean Michael Crabtree is a beast and thats hard to deny. If he is healthy this season he will have great numbers...

I said the term "dynasty" in possibly the most outrageous thread ever and it was obvious hyperbole. What part of the hair gelled QB turned offensive coordinator that will be an unmitigated failure did you not just read?

Actually, I don't think the list is that bad. It's all opinion based mostly on last year's performance. That's why it is the list at the END of the season that matters.
