There's also a good chance he's WORSE than Mullen.

Hell, UL couldn't even beat TEXAS with Hudson Card at QB.

Florida has internal problems. I'm 100 percent convinced of that. Mullen is an oddball but the wheels don't come off like that unless something more is amiss.

That said, Napier is a solid hire.

USC payed 110 to a guy they are hoping does more with equivalent, or less, talent. If you want to win championships, that’s a bad hire.

LSU is hoping Kelly can elevate with slightly better talent, albeit against better competition. That’s a better hire, the real caveat is it’s a move in the twilight of his career.

Florida is the only one of the 3 who made a hire with real risk, also the only one with real upside. Two hired known commodities, one made a gamble. That doesn’t make it a bad hire, if anything they are the only one making a logical play to be elite. A good coach who should be able to elevate with improved resources, time will tell if it pays out.

On no planet does Oklahoma have better talent than USC when USC has a remotely competent HC and isn't under sanctions.

Napier might turn out great.. but it sure does seem the fans/boosters are pushing the hiring….

We want offense in comes Mullen
We want recruiting in comes Napier.

They may want to try finding the right culture fit..

Florida is hoping for an Urban, but that they hit the million dollar jackpot with him. Urban is the exception and not the norm. There is a high risk Billy fails just like rest of the G5 hires.

But he claps like he's Nick Saban

In all honesty even if he's good he's following the exact same "process" as Kirby and Saban but he's 5/10 years behind starting

Just gonna last 4 years bitch about facilities and getting slammed by UGA it was a stupid hire done on the cheap they got played by his agents media ability

Urbz final team went 12-0 finished number 5 in the nation and beat Texas a and m, UNC and Arizona by an average of 3 TDs people forget how good that team was. Compared that to barely beating belt teams

I think that you’ll regret this thread in 2-3 years when Billy is beating LSU on the reg.

a less talented roster.
Poor wittle Mullen only had Pitts, Trask, and Toney; 2 first rounders and a 2nd rounder + Grimes and Copeland.

To be far (not a big item around here) but Billy has to prove himself on the big stage at UF and Brian has to prove himself with the week to week combat in the SEC vs the schedule of ND. Different but then again alike.

Wow, you mean a Sunbelt team with 2-3 star talent couldn’t beat P5 team with 4-5 star talent??

Print the shirts!

What's his record against ranked teams again?

And yes, I'd much rather have an up and comer then Kelly.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kelly is a great coach.

But he's proven time and time again he's not a big game coach who consistently shits the bed when it comes to tough competition.

Hell... FSU had him against the ropes and he was bested by Cincinnati this year.

Guess time will tell.

Mullen created his own issues. He didn’t want to recruit or emphasize it within the program. You cannot sustain any level of success with poor recruiting. He was also keeping people on his staff that had no business coaching at Florida.

It’s not a bad hire at all. Of the coaches hired only Aranda would have been better. This what aggravating about LSU fans. Y’all have spent the last 48 hrs melting your faces off to hire a name coach that no one knows how he’s going to work out and then come here to shite on everyone else’s hire when everyone on this board has shite on Brian Kelly as a coach prior to him changing jobs.

Personally I don’t see the need to criticize either the BK or Napier hires. I think both bring solidarity and structure to their respective programs.

BK is a high floor guy. Would say his tenure will be 5-6 years and LSU will be contending in 2-3. He brings stability in coaching staff and great organizational skills. LSU recruits itself with the kids and families being extremely loyal to Louisiana (dumb people of the Rant are making too big of a deal of the “cultural fit”.).

Napier is a high ceiling guy because of his age and structure. Florida fans are hoping he will bring stability and a foundation through recruiting much better than we have been. The Florida program is almost a complete rebuild from an organization standpoint so we need someone that emphasizes recruiting/program building, but has the longevity to maintain it if things are going okay.

I agree with this; I think both hires appear successful on paper. Unfortunately this is tRant and you can’t expect a rational conversation.

Neither do I. I think Napier is what Florida needs at this moment and the type of coach UF fans are used to rallying around. Not as tuned in with LSU, but if looking for some sort of consistency then Kelly seems like a good fit. Kelly would have been a very bad choice for UF right after Mullen IMO.
