Edit: since there is confusion, let me explain. Off the top of my head:

2001 LSU-27, Auburn-14 (Changing of the guard, Auburn had been superior prior to game. Old fashioned slugfest)

2005 Florida-16, Tennessee-7 (sent programs in opposite directions)

2008 Alabama-41, Georgia-30

2008 Alabama-36, Auburn-0 (Showed who the best team in Alabama would be for the foreseeable future)

2013 Missouri-41, Georgia-26 (Proved Tigers could compete in SEC as long as they get decent talent)

2014 MSU-38, Auburn-23 (Proved MSU could reach a higher level of play and consistency, and ruined Gus Bus)

2015 Alabama-38, MSU-0 ( Proved SEC>B1G [again])

For Bama fans? Sure. But Auburn was horrible that year.

Auburn being horrible is really a moot point for that game. It signaled the end of an era for Auburn, and really issued in an era of dominance for Bama. It was definitely a statement game, IMO, and among the biggest statement games in Bama history.

What was the statement here? Business as usual?

I fail to understand what "statement" was made other than that the game was a de facto SEC West Title Game.

2005 Florida-16, Tennessee-7

Again, fail to see the significance here. Pretty much the same as any other UF-UT game in the last 20 years.

2008 Alabama-41, Georgia-30

Statement against blackouts?

quote:

2008 Alabama-36, Auburn-0

Statement about being tired of being beaten six years in a row?

quote:

2013 Missouri-41, Georgia-26

I'm at a loss to know what the statement was here other than just the better team won that day.

quote:

2014 MSU-38, Auburn-23

Again, missing the statement here. Statement that Miss St liked to be significant for once?

quote:

2015 Alabama-38, MSU-0

?? Standard Bama beatdown of an overrated team. Explanation please?

No. They were 2-6 in the SEC. Alabama made bigger statements against Clemson and Georgia (both had GameDay there), specifically Georgia because it was the game of the day and Alabama led 31-0 at the half.

It was more of a statement game for the winner than the previous year, which was actually a close and competitive game.

Irrelevant. At the very least it was a statement to the prevailing culture of the state of Alabama at the time. You and I are the same age. Surely you remember the 6 years of hell and purgatory having to deal with that shite. It was a big, big deal to win that game that way. The original "order restored" game.

I definitely agree that the Clemson and UGA games were also major statement games.

Please tell me Florida fans aren't really going to call that the biggest statement game since 2000. That would be really sad considering what your program has accomplished during that time.
