ESPN is already going to have to up the payments to the SEC as part of Texas and OU joining, the other way to get closer dollar value wise is to add inventory.

It was 50/50 before but a 9 game schedule with 3 permanents and the other 6 rotating is all but a lock now.

Yeah we knew that from SEC Media Days when Forfeitin' Jimbo said that.

The reports around media days were that it was very split among the membership and that 8 games had a slight lead.

Yeah it really was. The smaller schools were worried 9 sec games would keep them out of bowl some years

If it was such a slam dunk for 9 games all along then why hasn’t it been voted on yet?

Probably waiting on an expanded playoff to be official before moving to 9 games

I'm in favor of going to 9, but that doesn't add "inventory" for ESPN. It improves the quality of their inventory, but there would be a handful fewer games for ESPN to televise (of the cupcake variety) than if the league stayed with 8. Nevertheless, I'm sure ESPN would be happy to make that trade.

Hope so. This would be the absolute best scheduling method for all involved.

going to 9 reduces inventory though.

Big boy football, what a novelty. It's not exactly BAMA winning 11 SEC games to win the conference in 2020, but it's a start.

I don't even think it improves inventory.

If ESPN wants better inventory, they should force better OOC games. Force 2 and 3 P5 opponents per season.

Forcing more vandy on the rest of the conference doesn't improve anything (half of the conference is below average).
UGA beat 13 opponents by 15+ last season (10 SEC)
UGA beat 11 opponents by 20+ last season. (7 SEC)
6 opponents by 30 (3 SEC)

I presume that is typical for the teams in the SECCG.

The all SEC schedule was great during the covid season. Bring on more conference matchups.

The reports around media days were reported by the media members. Nothing ever went to a vote and several AD's (Scott Woodward) had no comment on which way they leaned on the this.

Don't go full retard.

You literally dropped Miami and replaced them with Vanderbilt on the 2020 schedule.
All of your other opponents that season were already on your schedule.

That is exactly my point.

Sure, you beat vandy 17-12.
Maybe that is why you were excited about the schedule change.
But it is not better content.

UGA added @ Arkansas in 2020.
We beat them 37-10.

I'd much rather schedule a home and home out of conference than repeat more of the same within the conference.

Works for me, Saban has wanted this for years. Covid sucked but I thought the 10 game all SEC schedule was great, no Utah St., ULM, or Austin Peay for us. Iron sharpens iron, I'd rather be playing another team from the East.

Nowadayas with every single aspect of cfb being about money, in what world would 8 SEC games with 1 single permanent opponent make sense compared to 9 SEC games wiht 3 perm opponents?

This is an even dumber take than the a&m fan who dropped Miami for Vanderbilt.

Bama dropped southern cal and replaced them with Kentucky and Missouri.
Bama beat Kentucky 63-3.
Bama beat Missouri 38-19.
All of your other games were already scheduled.
And you think this is better TV content?
