Okie
Okie St
Kansas
KSU
WVU

East/South:
Houston
Memphis
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Iowa St

They would take the 6 million+ person footprint back in a second just to have the negotiating power for TV contracts.

We like the money and the expansion into new recruiting areas. FB and TV sets drive the bus. We aren't leaving.....ever.

Before SEC took over for good in 2006, the XII was considered a top if not the top conference.

1997 national champions
2000 national champions
2001 BCSNCG
2003 BCSNCG
2004 BCSNCG
2005 national champions
2008 BCSNCG
2009 BCSNCG

Once Colt McCoy left the title game injured, the Big XII followed. It's last breath was January 2010. Since then there has been some breaths taken but still trying to gain full consciousness.

I think one of the Florida teams could be an option when you think long term.

Isn't it UCF that is one of the largest schools in Florida? That many people at a school they might to be able to put together a good squad eventually.

If they go to 12 teams, Houston is on the outside looking in. UH gets in if they go to 14.

For sure lock:
BYU
Might look at Colorado State?
Cincy makes West Virginia be not so much on an island.

I do not see how Houston is a net gain for that conference.

BYU
Cincinnati
UCF
Maybe CSU.

The B12 hung it's hat on distributing 30 million to its 10 members this year. Aside from BYU, I don't thing those other schools provide the negotiating power to sustain that split if added. The LHN is always going to be an issue so the schools that come in are going to be agreeing to take it in the crotch in terms of a conference network. I think it's a hard sell.

When was the Big 12 "the dominant conference"?

From 2000-2008 the big 12 south was what the sec west is now.

Weren't they fairly dominant back when OU was actually a power and Nebraska and Tejas were strong?

I listened to the conference call. Bowlsby said the TV contracts have clauses that allow teams to be added to Big 12 without decreasing payouts to members.

In regards to potential candidates, BYU is a P5 level addition. All the rest suck.

Arkie and Mizzou but would need a big time financial guarantee.

I've always thought LSU would be a good big 12 fit as well but they'd get tired of them bitching about the conference offices being in Dallas and that being the reason they lose to Texas and we'd get a call telling us to come get their arses.

Every non Texas school will never vote to have Houston brought in. They do not want anything else from that state ever...

Over that same timespan:

1998 Tennessee BCS champs
2003 LSU BCS champs
2006 Florida BCS champs
2007 LSU BCS champs
2008 Florida BCS champs
2009 Alabama BCS champs

Neither 2001 Nebraska nor 2003 Oklahoma deserved to be in the title game.
