I never said he did. There's this thing called balance. Look it up.

Yes...there is a thing called a balanced offense. There is also a thing called inefficiency. Last season Tennessee had 477 passing attempts and 413 rushing. That means that they ran the ball 46% of the time. Not exactly 50/50...but pretty close. However, they gained nearly 3,800 yards passing and just over 1,900 rushing (33% of their offensive production). So, they WANTED to be balanced...but they didn't have the ABILITY to be balanced. Much like Arkansas will be in 2013.

I think a lot of people confuse Alvarez with Bielema. Wisc has been a pretty balanced offense since he took over.

2012 Wisconsin
291 pass attempts for 2,197 yards
635 rushes for 3,309 yards

Ran the ball 70% of the time resulting in 60% of their offense.

It works 60% of the time, all the time.

One quarter of the spring game showed quickly that the running portion of our offense was coming from what Wisconsin liked to do and not what Chaney was calling at Tennessee.

You got me there. The leading rusher was a 250+ pound fullback. Definitely not Chaney's forte'.

Look at 2011 Wisky; I think that would more accurate with a competent QB there. Prob more a 60/40 split than in 2012 where it was at least 2/1. Granted Russell Wilson was a very good QB

Will Arky fans be satisfied with Nutt like results or will they expect the flash they saw with Petrino?

I expect wins, pretty or ugly. Offense has not been our issue. I'm hoping Bielema will improve us defensively. That is required in the SEC.

I think this topic is overanylzed.

If Bielema is a great coach he'll win, regardless of style and conference.

I know we all said Petrino would fail in the SEC and he had Ark on the cusp of a title game.

You had Hillis, Jones and Mc Fadden in th same backfield and couldn't even win a minor bowl game.

The only bowl game they played in with a non-interim HC was against Wisconsin and 2Bs, look up the stats and figure out how 2Bs won that game...

And Arkansas has been somewhat lacking, at times, on defense even under Petrino.

Understatement, the last time Arkansas fielded a decent defense was 2006, then lost most of it to the NFL draft.

We were in 22, 21 or 12 personnel for 63 out of 97 plays during the spring game.  That is definitely drastically different than what Chaney did at Tennessee when the majority of his offense was run from 11, 10 or 00. The only time he used a FB at Tennessee really was a couple times a game where you had a Twins package out of the I. He didnt use a FB in his Pistol formation that he employs either. At both Tennessee and here, he has substituted in a TE/H-Back instead. Also, he didn't run Power at Tennessee which we saw a lot of from the run game during the scrimmage. Overall, there is definitely a heavy influence from.Wisconsin in the scheme.

Obviously all we are going to do is run the ball.

That's why we hired Jim Chaney as our OC.

Chaney did not use a fullback under Dooley, but he did in his first season at UT under Kiffin where he ran a traditional pro-style offense. That season he did run it more than he passed. Then again, that season he had Jonathan Crompton as his QB. The year cumlimated with 31 rushing attempts for 5 yards against Virginia Tech...guess he should have thrown more in that one.
