You guys know why the basketball tournament is dominated by UK fans? It's not because Kentucky fans are willing to pay higher prices for the tickets (although that helps) it's because you guys don't buy up your allotment and we buy your tickets.

Bigger event? Basketball tourney, especially when Kentucky is good.

Better ticket?
Basketball: Limited # of ticket books per school for several hundred $. You also have to plunk down the cash for every game. Buying on the street can be even worse. Last time it was in Nashville, nosebleeds were going for up to $1,000 apiece.

Baseball: Everytime I've been to Hoover I've been given tickets and hospitality passes by folks leaving town. Even if you have to pay it's just $14 bucks and you can pretty much sit where you want. Free parking if I remember correctly; cheaper concessions at a minor league park than a downtown arena. Hotels in suburban Birmingham are cheaper than downtown Atlanta/Nashville/New Orleans.

The baseball ticket is certainly a better value and baseball fans are more tolerable as a rule, regardless of affiliation. You're also guaranteed at least 2 games with your team.

Because UK fans use their spring break/family vacation to go there even though your head coach does not give a frick about it.

I've been thinking about this today does anyone know if there are good places to hangout at close to where they play the baseball tournament such as bars/restaurants? I know it's close to birmingham but I wouldn't think there is a whole lot to do there

That's quite the non sequitur.

Nope, nothing, better to make friends with LSU fans in the RV lot. They'll feed you and get you drunk between games.

Oh, I know that. Even though the tournament was in NO this year, I think there were only about 50 LSU fans there.

btw, I bought pretty good tickets for $75 a piece on the day of the game and watched your team win the National Title. One of the good things about living in the NOLA area is that, if you want to, we can see a lot of great major sporting events in person.

I'd take the basketball ticket any day of the week. I wouldn't go to the baseball tournament if it was in my backyard.

if we are talking value you must also factor in the talent in both sports.

major college basketball is vastly superior to college baseball in that aspect.

Anyone who thinks its close is delusional. Personal preference doesn't matter. The thread is titled "hottest ticket".

Yeah - maybe I don't understand the question. I have been here several times and the only time I can remember when a crowd was a problem was a few years ago when Alabama and Auburn played each other. I think that was more of a traffic issues than a ticket issue. There is only one way into this place.

I kinda answered the question wrong and i am embarrassed and I don't even know what my answer is now.

ETA: never mind. I see that he changed the word "hottest" to "better". I'm not embarrassed.

That's a relevant part of the discussion, but talent level on the field isn't necessarily reflected by tickets sold or butts in the seats. Look at the number of college football fans buying tickets compared to the NFL on a given weekend. I'd much rather have a ticket to the BCS Championship than the Super Bowl. Same with Final Four or CWS.

Of course eyeballs on television changes the argument as well, but we're talking about the ticket.

There was some disclaimer about being high so you are good!

But, I didn't know that was a problem getting a ticket at either one, so just stay high and enjoy.

The word "better" said "hottest" earlier. That's the question I was answering.

If the Boys are in the Super Bowl I'm going to that over anything.

Actually there is a 2nd way in and out. When leaving the main parking lot you take the first left where you would go right if you were going to Hoover High School. This takes you on a winding road by a couple of nice neighborhoods then you dead end into Shades Crest Road. Turn right, go a few hundred yards and then turn right onto Highway 150. You then go a little over a mile and you're at the main I-459 exit everyone gets off at to go to Regions Park. I've never understood why more people that go to the baseball tournament don't use this alternate route.
