Your school is a joke, athletically and academically. Your athletic program has to be propped up by state funds.

Only one program has forsaken integrity in the name of W's more than Nebraska, and that's the clown college in tally.

The SEC East looks like an NFL division when compared to Ohio State's schedule!

I remember when FSU and Miami were treated like the La Techs and Western Carolinas of today. Bama and other SEC schools would beat them by 60-70 points.

I heard on ESPN that UF didn't have a 10 win season until the 90's. Is this true?

Since you may not have been born until early to mid 1990s...I will let you in on history lesson...not until 1972 did UF even play 11 game seasons...so when you did play ten games...nine wins was pretty damn good....but I wont pretend that UF was a powerhouse except for when Spurrier played 1964-66 and in the mid 1970s when we had a wishbone team (as did others including Bama, AU etc etc) and we had powerful teams in the mid 1980s. Of course when Spurrier came to UF as HC in 1990 things changed dramatically. Charley Pell though had started the change when he was HC by getting boosters to start giving $$$ and the family of Ben Hill Griffin kicked in a lot of $$ to expand stadium.

UF is one of the few schools in the SEC to be a member of Association of American Universities, a very prestigious group of schools that excel in academics. I believe UF, Vandy, Mizzou and maybe A&M are members. The US News World Reports has listed UF as one the best values for students and the diverse background is almost unmatched.
UF is center of media attention for its athletic programs and not just football...back to back basketball NCs with a football BCS title sandwiched in between. The girls school has tried to keep up but cannot compete...the UF girls volleyball teams are awesome, ditto softball. When one looks at the whole entire package of athletic endeavors...its not even close for the girls school. Our budget for athletics is so far over the top compared to the little sisters it isnt funny.

No one in their right mind would choose the girls school if both programs offered. Its a top tier school in the best conference. Just think how worthless a championship trophy is for winning the ACC...look at the experience of competing in Atlanta and the media attention is 25 X what the ACC tries to throw out there even with ESPN footing huge bills to prop it up. Tix to the ACC are crap worthless peices of paper and a lot are given away to make it appear someone cares. Look at spring media days for the SEC...it gets again the 25 X media attention of the ACC.

I cant believe some of you numb skulls cant understand this.

I was merely asking a question...to which you felt the need to get quite unnecessarily worked up and sensitive about

thanks for the essay, though. I'll not read it all and just take your exhaustive response as affirmation to my question

This......You'd hardly ever have a bad season at FSU.

This is a no-brainer for anyone who knows anything about the two schools and programs, or reads the Chronicle for Higher Education.

Administration:

UF's AD is considered one of the best in the nation. Their tradition at President has had top academic and research focus and still manage to be extremely influential in college football.
FSU's AD has very limited AD experience and routinely takes credit for initiatives that were in progress before he arrived. FSU's presidential tradition is based on football. It would seem that such a thing is ok if you are a football coach, but the problem is that no one respects that and the Pres gets too involved in the football story. Your University has to transcend football. FSU's doesn't.

Financials:
FSU is in debt and could not even afford to send their band to the playoff game. Their finances are in bad shape and their alumni do not donate much. Just check their endowment.
UF is one of the wealthiest schools in the South. Their endowment is multiple times what FSU's is.

Facilities:
see finances above. The facilities are not even close. UF lags behind some of the top programs in the nation in facilities but it is tops in the state of Florida. FSU's is not even 2nd best in the state of Florida (UCF).

Football tradition:

FSU came on the scene in the late 80's and 90's. UF has a football tradition that includes a Heisman winner in 1966, an SEC title in 1984, and several titles in the 90's. FSU wasn't even in a conference until the 90's and they ran away from the difficult SEC. It might be easier to win in the ACC, but their games are against nobody and nobody fills their stadium to watch. The ACC game environments are just above really good high school. Who really wants to coach in that week after week?

Athletic tradition:

winning environment and cohesive athletic family is important to coaches these days. FSU has football, and.... and .... and... an occasional breakthrough in track, soccer, and also ran status in baseball. UF has national championships in nearly every sport and performs at the top level every year. UF is the only school to finish in the top 10 of the Directors Cup every single year it has existed. UF has won numerous SEC all sports trophies. There are numerous olympic athletes from UF.

There really is no comparison at the University or athletic level. FSU just isn't even on the map comparatively.

Florida is more prestigious, and a much better school in general. Florida State is probably the better job if you want to win. At F$U, you can get tons of talent, your players can run wild raping and a thieving with no consequences, you can give them free shoes, and you play cupcakes 10 of your 12 games.

Winning at UF is more impressive because of the competition faced. I've been to Tallahassee a few times and lived in Gainesville for a while. The experience at UF would be much better, imo. Tallahassee isn't a bad little town but Florida is a much better campus, imo. Academically, Florida is one of the best in the SEC -- a great school (not that this matters to a coach).

FSU has the original Hernandez in Michael Gibson (who Bowden wrote a letter of leniency for, and no I'm not joking ).

Florida State. You have the same access to recruits with an easier path to the playoffs. If SOS mattered then UF.
