Vols only managed 52 points and let Bama score 49

In 1907, Alabama beat Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss (tied Georgia & Auburn) on their way to an almost perfect season.

Sewanee (former SEC school) beat the Tide 54 - 4 (all the other teams that year COMBINED only managed 10 points against the Tide). It was Alabama's only loss that year.

Sewanne : still the best team in the state of Tennessee

For the record, in 1907 Touchdowns were 5 points, field goals were 4 points.

The field was also 110 yards long, you only had 3 downs to make a first down, and the forward pass was in it's 2nd year of being legal...sort of, because an incomplete pass was a 15 yard penalty(from the throwing spot), you couldn't throw it for more than 20 yards, and you weren't allowed to catch a pass in the endzone.

Not debating the differences in era's (WW I really did kill Sewanee as they went to war and never really recovered) same way WW II killed Minnesota

Just stating Alabama was good but lost to Sewannee

Alabama lost 1 game and scored 70 points for the season
Sewanee scored 54 in 1 game to beat Alabama

Hence my point

Purple Tigers > Prison Orange Vols when it comes to Alabama

Oh I was just posting the info because I thought it was interesting.

Also it was hard to score 54 points back then.

I’m surprised those liberal crybabies at Sewanee still have a football team.

Glad you posted this, because my only question was ... how did we get 4 points?

Way back then: My future alma mater, Sewanee, left the SEC after ten years when it was clear they were a bust. They are in Div. 3 these days and play teams like Millsaps. Success in the SEC is way in the past.
