Not true: Jonathan Allen, Eddie Jackson, OJ Howard all returned.

You know...the same could be said about LSU. Fournette, the secondary, last years recruiting, receivers, LBs.....I've seen LSU fans get tied all up in knots over anybody suggesting their player(s) are not the best.

(I've even seen some get all crazy when somebody suggested Brandon Harris was not very good)

I don't want to get in between you guys but you both think you are the best. I mean, between the two of you, you have a pretty good claim, but sheesh....

GTFO with your rational argument.

Wat, wat?

You haven't seen LSU fans say they were going to have the #1 recruiting class in the nation? At least they were saying that until signing day.

Receivers? Yes. I've seen more than one say LSU had the best receivers in the SEC....same for Linebackers.

I'm not arguing they are right. I am arguing I've seen LSU fans say these things.

What's funny is they don't even recognize that they do that.

ETA
In fairness, Georgia fans can get the same way in the Fournette vs. Chubb arguments that erupt on an almost daily basis.

That Bama secondary is overrated as frick.

lol, Alabama had a red shirt freshman starting CB last year (Humphrey), a true freshman starting a safety (Ronnie Harrison), a true freshman starting at the Star position (Minkah), and a converted CB playing safety. That's 3 players who were seeing the field for the first time and one player who had never played a position before. Despite this inexperience, they ended up with a combined 13 INT's, 4 pick 6's, 10.5 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, and 26 passes defended.

On top of this, they are severely underrated in their run defense. But I'm guessing you blocked out the memories of seeing Eddie Jackson chase down Fournette in the backfield and Marlon Humphrey running him by himself.

Come on George you better than that. Our D line was so thin and lacking talent. A secondary is only as good as their D line.

It was an honest question - I agree they have very solid talent back there, but the numbers weren't great at all. Poor d-line pressure could certainly contribute to that.

LSU, Alabama and Florida. Put them in any order you wish.

Agreed - though with Florida's losses I'd probably peg them at a solid #3.

Actually I haven't. Last years recruiting class was a possibility, yes. This year who the hell is saying this?

Dupre and Dural are up there with the best in the SEC. That's not some out of this world statement. As a whole unit who knows?

You're full of shite here. Please post a link. This has never been stated. Get off your high horse.

Non of them were 3 year starters with 3 years worth of film and production.

Jon Allen was a first year starter. Eddie Jackson moved to safety last year after being a part time starter at CB. OJ Howard had not scored a td on over a season.

White was a 3 year starter with 30+ starts and more than enough film to properly evaluate.

Ricky Jefferson is horrible in coverage and just as bad against the run. He over pursues and takes horrible angles.

The 80yd Alex Collins run comes to mind first . Go back and watch that play and tell me he is good against the run. That's only one example there are several more.

One could make a comedy reel of awful Ricky Jefferson plays.

Dude, your obsession with Jefferson is unhealthy. This is the 4th or 5th different time I've seen you shitting on him. It's not like he's touted as a future star by LSU fans. Most of us realize he's an average safety. There have been rumors that Ed Paris is looking good for the 2nd safety spot as well.

It's weird to be this obsessed with a player like Jefferson.

Bama. Always Bama. No they may not have the most number one picks, etc, but they will be the most effective COLLEGIATE secondary. They work in a team concept where the sum is greater than its parts and assignments are understood. They won't make the jaw dropping interceptions, go by catchy nicknames or have the coolest swag but they will make solid tackles, play inside their roles and operate with discipline. He won't allow anything less

I agree with this...probably the most level headed response by a bama fan in some time. Saban finds a way to toe the line between the excessive physical (corner) play and good technique. He did the same thing when he was here at LSU. The corners are very handsy at the line of scrimmage and force the receivers to the sideline or they simply force receivers to go where they don't want to. This disrupts timing and routes. It also doesn't hurt that their pass rush on 3rd down is deadly. The SOB is a defensive master at not allowing anything easy thus frustrating and mentally wearing down receivers/quarterbacks.
