I like Eli.

Granted, I couldn't name another one because I don't spend a lot of time listening to radio broadcasts from other teams. I don't care for the good ole boy redneck guys though.

I enjoy Eli's voice and delivery but he doesn't give the pertinent info enough like down/distance.

He'll also say someone 'burst through the line of scrimmage' and ten seconds later you find out it's 2nd and 9, gained 1 yard.

THIS.

How many SEC announcers have had Kenny Chesney songs about them?

I like Eli myself, except for when he does this:

Lacy in the I. McCarron takes the snap from center, hands off to Lacy. LACY CUTS RIGHT, BOUNCES OFF A DEFENDER, CIRCLES LEFT, STILL ON HIS FEET, SHEDDING TACKLES, DIVEEEEEEEES FORWARD, for a gain of 1.

Hawthorne is a master of this. Especially in baseball.

AND THAT BALL IS HAMMERED TO CENTER FIELD! IT'LL GET OUT OF HERE! WAYYY BACK! and it's caught by the second baseman.

He gets all excited.. you get amped up, thinking a helluva play is being made if you're only listening on the radio, then find out it's a no gain or short gain. And the other poster is right, he is very slow to give down/distance updates sometimes.

You have to know that the rest of the SEC hated Jim Fyffe, so I really wouldn't talk about anyone elses announcer.

Scott Howard is ok. Beats hell out of Neal "Dildo" williamson and that sideline idiot that used to work with Munson. That guy was a BOOB.

And reference another post, John Ward of UT I had forgotten about. I think he is the guy with the epic "Its football time in Tennessee!".

Georgia Tech used to have an announcer named Al Ciraldo that was an absolute MASTER at this. "Cuts left!, Cuts Right!, Breaks through the hole!, Loss of 3.

Bramlett has come a long way, but he still isn't worth writing home about. I listen to the '10 IB with the playbyplay just so I can experience the monumental change in Gold's demeanor from the first half to the second.
