Scott Sterling. Could've been Olympic gold medalist as a soccer player. Could've been gold medal volleyball player if he'd focused on that sport. Unreal talent.

Whenever I see these "greatest athlete" threads, no matter the criteria, Chris Jackson takes the cake for me. I know he went on to the NBA but I can probably speak for most people here in saying, he was a bust. Yeah, I know... He had some nice years but all in all flopped. Between the tics and the religion battle he was fighting, he simply faded.

As I've wrote before, I traveled with the the opposing team to Gulfport for the Highschool MS south State game. Somewhere between 1985-87. I was the ball boy. I vividly remember watching him warm up from the opposing bench. He missed twice in 25 minutes. The word freak was not tossed around back then unless you were referring to pistol Pete. Oh the irony.
*he rolled up like 40 points that night

Dicenzo Miller. Hampered with a constant leg injury which eventually caught up with him, that guy ran through tackles left and right. Over 1300 yards his Jr season and despite injury again rushed for over 1,000 yards his SR season. He had great vision.

Here are a few I found real quick.

John David Booty. I know he was drafted late and was on a roster for a year or so but he never really "made" it.

Rocket Ismail

He was amazing. I still remember the ND vs. UT series and man that Notre Dame team was loaded. All Hail the Miracle at South Bend -- one of the best comeback against all odds games in CFB history.

As for Ismail... he did play in Canada and on his own terms. He went there for an outrageous amount of money that the NFL wouldn't touch. I think the CFL thought that if they could get him they could raise the CFL but really they needed more than one player of his caliber.

EDIT to ADD: Kinda crazy but I just realized that Dale Carter was on that UT team and now his son Nigel Warrior is a freshman on this year's team.

That failed after college- van Tiffin. Wasn't a kick he couldn't make from any distance or angle. Never missed an extra point in college career. Have no clue how he wasn't an all pro for 15 years.

Never made it through college- Steve Christopher. Qb from anniston. First ever true duel threat I ever saw. Passed for close to 3000 and ran for 1000 in 89. Showed up at Bama with Jay barker and flat thought he would be handed the job and got an attitude when he found out he had to actually win the job. Also, his "boys" were a bad influence on him.

St Aug had a kid at RB named Sean Rhodes; I always wondered what happened to him.
