would have lost to us if Tua hadn’t coughed up the ball on the opening drive at the 2 yard line…..lol. Case closed? Glad we could settle that.
It's wild how much revisionist history surrounds this particular play years later.
It was 3rd and goal, Tua dropped the ball at around the 7 yard line.
Even if he recovers it, Alabama likely just kicks a field goal.

95 Nebraska was always the best to me until 19 LSU got going late in the season. They became unstoppable. They never ceased improving.

Or more likely they knew the season didn’t count as it didn’t count towards eligibility and OSU had only 7 games.
It’s an * if there ever was one.

Hi everyone; I thought I'd check back in a clarify one point. It wasn't implicitly or explicitly stated but, it should have been stated that college football team was the criteria. For that mistake, I apologize.
Secondly, I'm going to need to get my upvote count lifted a good bit on that original post. So, if you can, just go back to the original post and hit that upvote button. Thanks for that.
Lastly, we do need threads like this to settle matters among ourselves and it leads to good discussion. This thread has helped us all decide, collectively, that Alabama 2020 was the best "college" football team to ever exist, ever. Thanks, everyone, and Roll Tide.

"Iron Men" of Sewanee
Not sure any team since has, or will, replicate their magical season.

I feel like you forget that the only reason Bama was even in that game was due to a 85yd hail Mary with less than 2 mins left in the 4th quarter. Not to mention LSU still had 1:30 seconds with the ball left to end the game up one score had they needed to score again. Bama was never in position to take the lead after the first quarter.

The 2020 Alabama offense was great, like the 2019 LSU offense was, but the defenses were not great. I don’t remember where the 2020 Alabama defense ranked but the 2019 LSU defense was in the lower half of the conference. I think 8th
The best teams have great offense and defense. That Miami team about 20 years ago comes to mind.

1899 Sewanee would like a word with you...
With just 18 players, the team known as the "Iron Men" embarked on a ten-day, 2,500 mile train trip, where they played five games in six days. Sewanee had five shutout wins over Texas (in Austin), Texas A&M (in Houston), Tulane (in New Orleans), LSU (in Baton Rouge), and Ole Miss (in Memphis). Sportswriter Grantland Rice called the group "the most durable football team I ever saw." The road trip is recalled memorably with the Biblical allusion "...and on the seventh day they rested."

19 Lsu is one of the best and most overrated teams of all time, INCOMPLETE team, weak D compared to every other playoff champion. they aren't even the best playoff team. That Oline would get worked by several Defenses
