I've been around since Hitler was a road guard, grew up a couple of blocks from campus and went to school there...I've been around Alabama athletics all my life and have seen and known a lot of folks who have shaped its past.

whoh! Pump the brakes. I didn't say Namath was the best FOOTBALL players to ever come to Alabama...in fact I was the 1st to mention Hannah on this thread. Namath was the best athlete.

I'm not sure I agree with that either, but no reason to argue ;p

Are you familiar with Charles Cleveland from Brent, Ala.? If not, you'd probably enjoy finding out about him.

McFadden should have won the Heisman in 07 imo. The guy was incredible.

For Tennessee it's Doug Atkins, even Dick Butkus said that Doug was the only man he was ever afraid of.

What kind of nightmarish monster could scare Dick Butkus?

only had one year so I go with Bo also

The best single season in NCAA history. He accomplished in one year at Auburn more than that virgin Tebow did in 3 years as a starter

He wasn't even offensive MVP in the title game.

Also believe Tebow had more rushing yards against Tennessee than Bo did

Texas A&M -- Dave Elmendorf

Dafuq?

Elmendorf isn't even in the top 5 safeties to ever play for A&M.

I would put (in no particular order) Lester Hayes, Terrence Kiel, Marcus Buckley, Melvin Bullitt and Armani Watts all above Elmendorf.

Also, for pure offense, I would put both Darren Lewis and Leeland McElroy above Manziel.

As a starting quarterback, Major Pullig (Corey Pullig is currently a Major in the Marine Corps) compiled a 41-6-1 record.

Not sure if serious????

Peyton Manning???

When you can list guys like Bobby Dodd, Beattie Feathers, and George Cafego just from looking at players between 1928-1939, picking a single guy grows far more complicated than just saying Peyton Manning.

Reggie White was every bit Manning's equal as both a college player and as a professional. If we limit it to college-only, arguments can be made for a lot of UT players.

Dude there is no way Thomas is the best player from Bama anymore.

In college it's either Julio, Richardson, or Mosley.

Lol, how old are you?

Thomas had more sacks in a single season than most great players have in an entire career.

Thomas was one of the greatest college football players ever, at any school. His numbers are insane and they weren't due to some exotic, drawn up blitzes. Most of the time he moved around and just flat out whipped the man in front of him.

His public drunken blunders are always entertaining, but he's a dumb arse so I'm assuming he finished his degree there?
