One of the worst catches in recent memory was Mitchell dropping the WIDE open td pass in the 2011 SECCG. Although early, it was a huge drop and a momentum killer. There have been worse drops in UGA history but that's an interesting recent one.

This was a great catch for Georgia. The way the receiver adjusted to the tipped ball was amazing.

Worst: Terrence Edwards' drop takes the cake.

Best: Verron Haynes with the hobnail boot catch.

Michael Johnson's catch to send us to the SECCG in 2002 was an unreal moment.

I think you gotta go with MJ. They were both historical but for different reasons. Verron's was more of a "groundbreaking, this is the foundation of things to come" type of moment, but we lost 4 games that year and didn't really accomplish anything. MJ's won us the east for the first time, got us to our first SECCG ever, helped us win our first SECC in 20 years, and basically kept our season alive where we won a BCS bowl and finished 3rd.

Basically, our tremendous 02 season doesn't happen without MJ's catch. Our 01 season would have been mostly the same had we lost to UT.

Does really any catch in Alabama history even compare with Tyrone Prothro's?

He also made one of the best catches of a tipped ball earlier in that game for a long TD.

But yes, that drop was the worst.

He was also the only reason Auburn was in a position to score at the end, hence I can't recall anyone being that irate at him, just crushed overall.

I was really hoping this wouldn't come up. Still stings to this day.
