Buck Belue - big completion to win the natty

Beat that bitches...

quote:

It was an ugly stat: in a game when Georgia needed air-support to keep defenders off tailback Herschel Walker, quarterback Buck Belue was 0-for-11 passing.

Now, with 2:05 to play, and the Bulldogs trying to protect a precarious touchdown lead, Belue was looking at a third-and-seven at midfield.

He dropped back, looked, finally let loose, and completed his first - and only - pass, seven yards to Amp Arnold. That allowed Georgia to run out the clock.

The question was best football player, not best athlete.

Bo was named the All Time best athlete by ESPN. He is the only athlete to ever be named An all star in two major sports. No slight to Herschel but Bo wins the athelete debate, now RB debate Herschel wins

You must be new to the SEC.

Broadway Joe
Pat Sullivan
Peyton Manning
Steve Spurrier
Archie Manning

All these guys were better than two on that list.

Walker was an okay back, definitely good but he was more of a workhorse than a homerun threat, I mean he has less rushing TDs than a QB.

Speaking of that QB- Tebow has the best mixture of statistical dominance and winning of any candidate other than perhaps Wuerffel.

Name me one other SEC player that was a 3 Time Consensus All-American, 3 Time SEC Player of The Year, and finished in the Top 3 Vote of the Heisman all 3 years they played college football. You can't.

There's Herschel and no one else.

Uh..... Tebow was a 3-time offensive player of the year, 3-time Heisman finalist, 3-time All American as well its not his fault Florida had one of the SEC's most prolific passers his freshman year and was on a title run-- give him a mid-tier team like UGA that only accomplishes anything once or twice a century and Tim probably starts as a freshman.

Except.... Tebow was SEC offensive player of the year once. 2008.

Tebow scored 57 rushing Tds in 55 games
Herschel scored 49 in 33 games.

And the Heisman ....
Tebow.
2007. 1st
2008. 2nd
2009. 5th

* not 3 times top 3. Twice.

Herschel was a workhorse, but he was absolutley a home run back, they don't really keep stats on it, but just google HW videos, almost all of them are Herschel breaking runs of 25 yds or more and taking them to the house.

How many TD runs did TT have over 5 yds?? Not many.
