Lived in Florida till I was 19, Army sent me to the North West for 3 years, and I've spent the past 15 years in South Louisiana...and I love it here.

Dallas is not nearly as desirable a place to live as it was 30 years ago. It was awesome back then, and only 3 million people in all of DFW, now it's 7.2 million. bullshite! Getting from one place to another over there has become a real fricking problem, and it ain't changing.

Dallas for sure has become a shitshow in many respects. Same with Austin. Houston has been a shitshow since the 1980s.

I'd probably live in southern Missouri around Table Rock lake out of all the states, or E. Tennessee.

Texas? Flat, ugly arse state. No thanks.

South Florida, as in get off the grid beach bum
Nashville, New Orleans would be okay for a couple of years.

I've lived near College Station and Athens. Loved both. I also think I would like Nashville, both Columbias (was in CoMo last month) and Fayetteville. I can't really imagine being unhappy in any SEC town because I would associate readily with every school.

I do not know what part of Alabama you are from.
So maybe because hou are from North Alabama you feel that way about the topography in Texas
I am from South Louisiana so those hills around Austin seemed unique to me until I moved out to Southern California 20 years ago.
Even compared to both Louisiana and California Central Texas into South Texas seems far from ugly

I ALWAYS had the shits when I lived in BR drinking that nasty water. Moved away and have had no more problems. Coincidence?

That water always felt like slimy algae when showering.

I actually like Houston about as much as Dallas. There's a mentality that exists in Dallas that turns me off to the place. Too many $30k millionaires driving BMW's and F-250s that think they're descendants of wild west gunslingers and aren't to be crossed. It's funny, but pitiful.

I'm staying in SE Missouri right now! I have a bright red dodge ram with a hog sticker on the back. Some guy yelled Arkansas sucks at me yesterday. I was gonna kick him in the teeth but he didn't have any. I was gonna kick his buddy in the teeth but he didn't have any either. I looked around and noone had teeth so I just went home.

I miss the hot summer nights a lot of the times
and torrential downpours.
Like today for example it has been overcast and in the low 70's.
If you include this with the colors of the Texas Hill Country at times it can compare to Southern California.

Most of the times except for when the bills are due I am happy to live here
