It's pumping sunshine to say that Toliver and Jackson are lock-down corners?

If stating a case then I'll go for it. Not necessarily what I believe will happen though.

UF will as usual have a strong defense, and brings back a ton of offensive weapons. We seem to have three solid QB's on the roster, so I highly doubt we end up with a Harris or Appleby situation again with the depth we have there.

We have playmakers on offense finally, a strong running back group, and an experienced Oline.

Our schedule is favorable in the SEC. While we face an insanely tough OOC schedule, our SEC schedule isn't. We have three away games that are three of the four weakest SEC opponents we face. We have owned Georgia as of late and Tenn is in a confused state it seems. UF can very easily win the SEC East again.

If UF can get the QB play to even functioning level, the rest of the team is good enough to win 8-10 games. If the QB plays at a high level, we are playoff contenders.

Well, last year's team was second best in the sec. We return 15 starters in total from that team. The defense is, from what we've seen, going to be good enough to be a top 25 defense again. Even with the losses of Adams and Lawson, our defensive line depth is still crazy good. Guys like Marlon Davidson, Derrick Brown, and Antwuan Jackson are all there, with four and even five stars backing them up (Watch out for Paul James III this year as a pass rusher). Line backers return ALL the starters, giving us our most experienced and talented LB corps we've had in a long time. Our corners are also pretty good. Carlton Davis was an all sec freshman, with really talented guys like Javaris Davis, Jamal Dean, and young talent incoming. The most concerning thing about the defense is the lack of depth at safety. Tray Matthews, while really talented (and matured since he's come to AU) has had injuries in the past. He'll be alongside most likely Nick Ruffin, who's had a lot of experience.

Overall on defense, I'm expecting Steele to pick up right where he left off last year. AU had a top ten scoring defense, and had really good moments last season (limiting Clemson to 19, etc)

On the offensive side, we return the second most starts (experience) in the SEC on the offensive line. This line is so deep that it's been a struggle to know who should be the 1 guy I each position (I imagine this will be figured out by game 1, but if not there's Georgia Southern to figure things out). Watch out for Mike Horton, Braden Smith, Austin Golson and the like. Will be a very good offensive line (they'll get a great test week 2).

Wide receivers return everyone but tony stevens. We have a lot of young talented players, including Nate Craig-Meyers (he's going to have a breakout year... Stidham has great connection with him), Kyle Davis, Eli Stove, Noah Igbinoghene, Sal Cannella (JUCO transfer, lookout for this guy), as well as some experience with Ryan Davis. Also, theres this guy

...

Running backs return our duo, Kerryon Johnson and Bubba Kam Pettway. The good thing is our offense will utilize both starting game one... unlike last year (Pettway didn't touch the ball against Clemson )

Offensively, we brought in Chip Lindsey from ASU to help our offense. He's a more pass oriented guy, but I don't see Auburn shying from the run. We'll still be a run first offense, but with more quick passes and deep throws.

Finally, the biggest addition to this team is Jarret Stidham. Whether you view him as untested is up to you, but one thing is for sure. The guy was meant to play football. He has the most accurate arm (and strong too boot) I've seen at Auburn. Yes, that includes Cam. No, I'm not saying he's Cam's level. I'm just saying he's accurate as frick. He has been a great team leader this year, and I know the guys have rallied around him and believe in him.

Auburn fans, for all their faults in preseason hype, aren't simply delusional about this team. There really is a reason to think that we'll be in contention come Iron Bowl time.

Regardless, I cannot wait.

your first post was bad, but this second one trying to form a rebuttal is just pathetic.

You hit the eye roll emoji, and your next point was "Alright cool. Because you know better than me. I'm glad you're an expert on this LSU team."

I think he is taking some things that were said yesterday at Canada’s and Aranda’s press conference metaphorically a little too literally. Nonetheless, LSU is loaded at the running back position. Not to mention that in a lot of Coach Canada’s offensive plays, there are three options, but not in the sense that they are all run options.

quote:

Returning 38 receptions in your receiving corps is loaded? That's being optimistic not realistic

Well according to Coach O and Coach Canada, the wide receiver corps in fall camp overall made the most progress. There are some very tall and some very gifted athletes in that receiver corp. Nonetheless, currently there is still a lot of room for improvement and growth as it is still very much a work in progress, but I look for that aspect of LSU’s offense to steadily improve as the season progresses.

Moreover, according to Coach Canada, Danny Etling has improved quite significantly during fall camp because he is finally healthy. Coach Canada says you can see it in his mobility and in the velocity, accuracy, and consistency of his throws, which have all significantly improved along with his level of confidence. In addition, last season Danny Etling was never nearly as mediocre as a lot of people made him out as being. Furthermore, he won most of the games he has started since he has become the first-string quarterback at LSU. Not to mention, that last year LSU had one of its most prolific offenses, after Miles was fired, that it had in a long time and Danny quarterbacked it.

Also, overall our offense should even be better than it was last year if Coach Aranda’s opinion means anything. Moreover, the new offense is designed to keep defenses back on their heels and guessing, which is exactly what we need to do to defeat Alabama.

quote:

Pump that sunshine.

Both corners are very fast, very experienced, and very good. Indeed, they both will be drafted next April. Nonetheless, the strength of the defense according to Aranda is all the LB/DEs that he can employ this season to put pressure on the QBs. In addition, our defensive line starters are all very solid and poised for a good season, and the two guys that are going to play inside linebacker for us this season are two studs that are going to open up a lot of eyes this season, and we also have some very capable backups as well. So, sunshine or not, our defense should be elite level again like it was last year again.

Not really. After LSU canned Miles, we instantly could have beat Auburn had we had another opportunity to play.

And Marcus Davis. His eligibility ran out.

Good post. I would also include Darius Slayton in our returning WR talent. He is a burner that should breakout after having a promising start to his career last season.

Really? When someone tries to shite on the hypothetical "best case scenario" it's pretty pathetic.

quote:

You hit the eye roll emoji,

It's worth an eye roll when they discredit the talent of a position group based on a lack of stats. It's just like when Auburn fans say they have the best WR corps in the SEC and their wideouts stats suck. If you look at the WR recruiting rankings it's not hard to tell that the WR corps for LSU is loaded with talent.

quote:

and your next point was "Alright cool. Because you know better than me. I'm glad you're an expert on this LSU team."

Yeah because his point didn't disprove the point that LSU has a loaded RB corps as well. Guice, Williams, Brossette, Edwards-Helaire, and Fournette are all very talented backs. They may not be Derrius Guice but there's not really anyone close in the ENTIRE NATION. It's a stupid point the guy tried to make.

quote:

Amazing.

You're trying to disprove people in a thread that's about "best cases". That's amazing to me.

It's easier to say it's triple option-esque then having to say that the WRs motion often, the F-backs are going to be getting shovel passes, etc. There's a lot to defend when going up against Canada's offenses and defenses will have to be very disciplined, just like in a triple option attack.
