get what you are saying, but if Virginia Tech called up and said things just aren't working out with the ACC and they've arranged their exit, we would be at 15 members tomorrow.

We don't need anymore GD teams in our conference. IDGAf what the other conferences do or don't do. We are just fine with 14 schools..........

Does North Carolina move without duke? By far the biggest rivalry in basketball and pretty close to being the top rivalry in all of college sports. Although I would love to see North Carolina and Kentucky be on that same level if the SEC does snag North Carolina. Was thinking if Duke was also added it would be to much but screw that I think it would be awesome. I think Duke also could benefit in football coming to the SEC. Man just think of that NC's realistically in every sport every year. At least the big 3.

I thought that UNC and Duke were attached at the hip. That's what I've heard on the radio and such, could be wrong though.

I can't understand why people keep calling VT a DC market team. Have you ever lolled at a frickin map??? Blacksburg is a long, long war from DC. DC is not a college market, period because of its makup of people from everywhere. Maryland pulls more support than anyone. But it's still weak.

The few trips I've made to and through Virginia I saw a metric sh*t-ton of VT stickers. They seem to be the default school of choice for military personnel and recent arrivals, of which there are many. Never saw a UVA sticker, which means nothing but VT is fresh in every one's minds, and that isn't a bad thing when it comes to the Sec network. UVA may be a superior institution in all measures except national following

I agree. That I-95 corridor from D.C to NYC...that's pro sports.

Actually, expansion is happening because of conference television networks, not ESPN...

I don't know anything about Virginia/DC TV Markets, but it is irrelevant if it's a mostly pro sports area. They are going after the cable tv coverage, which will still exist regardless of whether or not people like pro sports more than college.

It is only 268 miles from Blacksburg to DC. It is 278 just from San Antonio to Dallas. It is 346 miles from Lubbock to Dallas, yet most of Texas Tech's students are from the D/FW metro area.

Even if your school is in the sticks, a majority of the kids come from the population centers. A&M used to be full of small town kids all across Texas, but there just isn't a large fraction of the population in the countryside anymore.

I will concede that U Virginia is a home run and a jewel, it just would be hard to turn down a sure thing to get all those affluent cable households in the entire state of Virginia. UVA going to the B1G is a real possibility.
