He's a gamble, but if we strike out on our top 2 or 3, he would be the best available by far.

Howland isn't coming to Starkville and Mississippi State.

Way too much culture shock and small potatoes.

If he is patient, he can wait for something where he can be a national player.

I heard the exact same thing about Bruce Pearl and Auburn.

It's Mississippi State fear you scared he coming. Fear the Ben. He stalks Kentucky at night and Ashley Judd.

this is why I dont want Howland and when I voiced my concerns about how things ended at UCLA there were many bama fans on this side that jumped my chit. Let me repeat, there are plenty of other good candidates out there to ask besides Howland.

I think it would be a good hire for either bama or MSU

I cant figure out why Howland hasn't already been hired. He put together some good teams at UCLA. I wonder if there is something behind the scenes that makes him a risk? Having said that, I wish Mizzou would have hired him last year.

It's fairly public knowledge that towards the end his players hated him, he lost control of the team, and potentially bullied his players in a way similar to what got several other coaches fired in recent years.

That's what the public knows. I'm betting AD's know more.

Maybe he can get lunch with Mississippi State defensive coordinator Ed Orgeron when he gets the job.

Not that impressed with Howland. His UCLA final four teams were absolutely loaded with talent (Westbrook, Collison, Mbah a Moute, Farmer, Afflalo, Love). A lot of coaches could have made deep tourney runs with those teams. In fact, Russell Westbrook actually said Howland held those teams back from reaching their full potential. Westbrook would often freelance and try to do his thing because he felt the offense would be more productive with the top players creating ways to score than running set plays. And he was 100% correct. When Howland's talent started to drop off, his flaws became exposed as a coach. I don't think he would do much at Mississippi State and Alabama where he would have a lot less talent to work with than he had at UCLA.

Ok look yes he not a great coach but state can't screw up like UGA did. State needs a splash. A guy that can put fear into the sec. Like Bruce pearl yes a crappy coach but a big splash. It is about selling tickets you can always buy recruits. Ask Ole miss show them the money. All they have to do is make it rain.
