LSU will be first.
Miss State will be last.

It is probably an SEC rule but it's also a state law for us. No alcohol in state buildings but they get around that for Club and Suites because of a "lease".
I've heard there is other loop holes in that law that will be fairly easy to get around... Ole Miss won't be the first school to sell alcohol to general admission ticket holders but we will follow suite shortly thereafter ... Just too much $ to be made.

Yes, the stadium suites have a setup that allows them to get around the rule. I've sat in the Zone at a couple of Bama games where people are allowed to keep liquor in a locker in "pouring" rooms. You can fill up a coke with ice at one of the free drink machines and then get your liquor out of the locker and mix a drink. You can eat free food and get plastered in what amounts to a ballroom. You can open the glass doors and go to your seat or you can stand at the glass windows and watch the game there. It's an awesome setup.
It's the same in VH for the Rebel and SEZ club seats.

Honestly, it's almost as if alcohol is already sold in Tiger Stadium with how lax the guards are at the entrance gates. I'm sure it's the same at most SEC stadiums.
Even if they do sell beer at games, it will never be sold in the student sections.

LSU got around allowing booze in the suites by completely tearing down the upper deck on the west (?) side & rebuilding it..not attached to the stadium itself. As it was financed by TAF funds, it is not considered a state building. And West Virginia reported new income in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in the first yr alone. IF they are going to allow selling booze in movie theaters now, selling it in a sports stadium is right around the corner, happening sooner than later.

In Missouri we could go with A-B products or Boulevard....I would actually pay $8 for a glass of Boulevard Wheat at a Mizzou game.
Just don't be like these guys....
University of Minnesota loses money on alcohol sales

We are selling beer and wine in club areas this season, which is like 15% of the stadium.
132 suites have had their own liquor for decades.

Busch, Busch Lite, Busch Ice? Sounds horrible.
Budweiser. Bud Lite. Michelob. Bud Select. Peruse their product list. It gets much better.
And I did not realize how liberal Missouri's alcohol laws were until Moved to the south. You have to go to a liquor store for liquor here! The grocery stores can only sell beer and wine. And not a Trops to be found.

Wisconsin is only on campus stadium selling beer. Or at one time it was the only one
Syracuse sold it at the Carrier Dome for our game in 2001. I believe Louisville, West Virginia and Minnesota currently do as well.

Yes it is. I can drink Coors Light though, it seems colder than the others with that silver can.

In MS it's a bit worse than that. Grocery stores can sell wine with less than 5% alcohol, which limits them to Boone's Farm-type crap.
I wasn't sure about the alcohol content and looked it up; found something a little disturbing. For years I've crossed the river to buy booze much cheaper in Louisiana. Turns out it is illegal to bring it back. I had no idea. Also, you can't get ANY sort of booze by mail from anywhere. At least not legally.

quote:I have a few before the game depending on the start time. I don't drink at the game. It's not that difficult to go without for several hours. I had a few at the Gator Bowl several years ago but at $8 a bottle, there is just something fundamentally wrong with that. I did not accumulate my incredible wealth spending $8 for a 10 oz beer in a plastic bottle.
