I loved the days of a 10 team SEC of the 80's

Being from Chicago (originally), Notre Dame certainly does not control that market. They certainly have a presence there, but the same could be said of ND anywhere. Chicago isn't a college sports town, but the teams you see the most support for are Illinois, Wisconsin, Northwestern, then maybe Notre Dame/Indiana/Ohio State/Iowa.
I agree. I used to live in the far Northern suburbs of Chicago. The Chicago Tribune used to treat Northwestern, IL, and ND as the three home teams and would have pretty good coverage of the entire big ten. I would say that there are also a lot Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, and Wisconsin fans in Chicago. I know for a fact that there are multiple Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, etc bars throughout Chicagoland.
In the end though Chicago is far and away a big ten town.

Once the playoff system is finalized, it wouldn't surprise me if that happened the very next day

Don't have a rivals account but the main page has a pic of ND.
B12 expansion I believe. ND as a member I don't...not in a thousand years.
