I guess Hurts hasn't yet absorbed the greatness that Daboll possesses from just being near Tom Brady.

In all seriousness, I don't know that Hurts fits the more pro-style downhill/downfield identity that Saban and Daboll want to build. It's not who Hurts is. I don't think consistent down field passing is ever going to be a strength of his. He can hit on a deep play like last night but I don't see it as his strong suit. Trying to force him to stay in the pocket and look down field really goes against everything he's ever done as a QB. You've got to groom out his natural instincts that have come from all his years of football.

Yall gave Kiffin a lot of shite for all the short passes and behind the LOS passes but that seemed like it catered to what Hurts does well. Quick passes, moving him out of the pocket and letting him run.

Offensive lines notoriously take many games to gel as a unit. We played an insanely good defensive line coupled with ridiculous talent at defensive back.

In case anyone was wondering, FSU has three 5 star defensive backs, and three 5 star defensive linemen.

Their defense is top 5 in the country.

Our RG/RT are weak points, but throughout the season they will gel.

Hurts did fine. He didn't have much of a pocket, but he also prevented any turnovers, and tried to make plays with his feet.

He also hit Ridley in stride on the deep ball, hit a player on the hands in the end-zone that was dropped, and had a long pass play called back for a hold. Also made a nice play on the two point conversion.

Yes Alabama needs to improve, but Hurts looked better last night, despite his low numbers.

I'm more concerned that we have a 50/50 shot on any field goal despite how close it is.

I wouldn't worry too much. That offense will get better. It always does somehow. Hurts is never going to be a pass first QB but as long as he doesn't turn the ball over, he will be good enough.

That being said, I do think Bama will have a few more close games than they have in the past. LSU could win this year and honestly, I think Bama will struggle with Moo State this year. Bama still probably beats Moo State but it's gonna be a good game this year.

Most offenses look bad against talented defenses

Outside of the one big play to Ridley we sucked it up pretty bad. I'd say a combo of poor Offensive line play and Hurts not sticking in the pocket.

7 times we had the ball inside the FSU 30 and only managed one touchdown

yes Bama's offense needs a lot of work. Hurts still needs work as a passer. However, he did not force the ball and had no ints or turnovers. If he could throw one td pass, and no turnovers in every game, I would take that.

I can't argue with this opinion.

We have plenty of time to work the kinks out.

And we had better work fast. If what the insider boards are saying is true, we lost about half of our linebacking corps last night.

And our offense could hardly get a first down against BYU and our QB and head coach suck.

What? We had zero problems getting first downs last night. We punted once. Our QB was 14/17 with a drop and the other 2 incompletions were throw aways. Our problem was scoring touchdowns in the red zone. I'm not saying we will beat Bama this year but I don't see us losing 10-0 again. Bama's offense will improve and so will LSU's. I hope both are undefeated when they play.

Yeah, we won that game on defense and special teams (outside of the FG kicking).

Offense struggled mightily.

FSU does have a strong defense though, but regardless, offense must improve.

With that defense who cares? No one will challenge you. FSU's defense is stout as well.

Doesn't really matter when you got a defense like you guys have does it?

LSU only punted once all game and they had over 20 first downs and nearly 500yds of offense. Try actually watching the game you trolling bastard.

I think it honestly was the playcalling that irked me most last night, not the players. The players did the best they could given the circumstances, and FSU's defense is really good, I'm not about to act like FSU has Missouri's defense and that it should've been a piece of cake. But there were moments in the game when running plays should have been called, instead of questionable passing plays that we already knew weren't going to work by that point.

All hurts has to do is hit the occasional long ball and no turnovers. With our defense and running game that'll do it

Serious question: Saban has a reputation for every player earning their spot regardless of the hype or stars, but is it possible he's blind to the possibility that Hurts might be the best player but not necessarily the best fit for this offense?

Any Bama QB other than Hurts likely finishes the game in the same condition as the FSU starter. Both O-lines got dominated by the other defense. Our people are complaining about taking over on the plus side and not scoring but fail to mention that FSU did too.

The plain fact is that evil, grown men were playing defense for both teams and it showed.
