You think Saban will hang around Tuscaloosa once the huge paychecks stop?
Hint: Hired gun....Nick doesn't love you. He loves the paychecks.

Of course this is true for pretty much any coach including Butchie. I agree that he's not hanging around to be AD but reject your premise that it's all about money for him. If it was, he'd live in Austin or be back in the NFL.

We can't afford Saban as an AD. If Saban wants to keep working his arse off, he will keep being a football coach. Plus, what legitimate football coach would want to not only have to follow in Saban's footsteps, but literally have Saban as his boss?

For the sake of argument, Kirby Smart seems to like working for him.

Kirby Smart. Saban already is his boss. Wouldn't be a bad gig for Smart to have his mentor in the office right down the hall.

He's no less legitimate than virtually every head coach out there. Almost all of them were coordinators first. Was Jimbo not a legitimate coach? How about Mark Helfrich?

If Smart is our next coach, then we fricked up somewhere along the way.
