THE GAME: The No. 4/3/4 University of Alabama football team takes to the road for an SEC Western Division matchup with the No. 20/20/20 Mississippi State Bulldogs. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce calling the action. Eli Gold and Phil Savage will handle the radio call on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, with Chris Stewart serving as the sideline reporter.
SERIES HISTORY: Alabama and Mississippi State will meet for the 100th time in a series that dates back to the 1896 season. The Mississippi State series is tied for the second longest continuously played series in the Alabama record book, dating back to the 1948 season. Alabama has played more games (99) and has more wins (79) against Mississippi State than any other opponent on record. The Crimson Tide holds a 79-17-3 advantage against the Bulldogs and is currently riding a seven game win streak in the series. Most recently, the Crimson Tide took down the top-ranked Bulldogs, 25-20, in Tuscaloosa last season. The win was UA’s seventh victory over the nation’s No. 1 team in program history, and the fourth win over the top team in college football under head coach Nick Saban.
BEATING THE BEST: With the win over No. 4 LSU on Nov. 7, Alabama owns a 36-13 (.735) mark against the Associated Press top 25, including a 20-7 (.741) record against AP top-10 teams since 2007
