When Saban retires, will McElwain move up to Bama or stay at Florida?

Too soon. Wait to judge a coach until he wins when he is supposed to win.

Assuming he is very successful at Florida (which is what you are implying) I would say he stays there instead of taking the Alabama job, if offered.

Their talent base is massive compared to the state of Alabama.

One of you will for sure. That's what makes college football great, elimination Saturdays.

He hasn't done anything at UF yet. I like what I see so far. For arguments sake if Bama wanted him, that would mean he would have been successful at UF.

With that being said why would you leave a place you had success and go be the follow up to a legend at Bama?

Also, the guy is from Montana. Other than having success at Bama, does he have any ties to them?

Now if he is successful at UF, Bama comes calling and it comes down to money then Foley better pay up.

Eh, both schools have the name to recruit nationally.

If he's succesfull at UF money will never be a issue. Meyer was the highest paid coach in the SEC and was given a million dollar retirement gift.

Stay at Florida. No reason to leave Florida and come to Bama if you have Florida playing well. I think our next head coach will be Dabo or Kiffin. I would be fine with either one as coach.

LSU might win the game, heck they might blow UF out, one game means nothing. People get wrapped up in one game too often in this sport, Ole Miss beats Bama, well Bama is done, and now look at them, it is crazy. LSU is at home, they should win this game, but if Florida can contain LF, and hold him to normal numbers, I think UF wins this game. Best D LSU has played against, and will play against all year, very excited to see how this game shakes out. Not many things beat a game in Death Valley at night! Go Gators!

We don't have a clue who Saban's successor will be because we don't know what the college football landscape will look like when he retires. I am certain we will go after someone with head coaching experience rather than a coordinator, so I want Kirby to move on and get a HC job somewhere before trying to come back here.

McElwain is 53 years old. If he is successful, this is probably his last coaching job.

How often does a coach on one of the best jobs in the country leave to take another top job? It doesn't happen.

This, though he was one I always hoped would have a shot to come back to Bama. Great coach, players love him, will do well with keys to a big kingdom.

Probably. He would walk back to Tuscaloosa for the job and he will do incredibly well if/when he gets the job.

or Kiffin

less than 50/50 that he'll be back as OC next year. He's not the next HC at Bama.
