So what exactly are you saying? Skipper not having a lot of offers when he signed, but ending up with offers from everyone. Ohio St., OU, Michigan, Ole Miss, etc etc. means what?

That Pittman can't evaluate talent?

Pittman can't out recruit storied programs known for producing OL?

Pittman can't recruit highly regarded players to Arkansas?

Pittman got 2 4 stars from Hawaii and Miami, literally about as far geographically from each other as you can possibly get and still be in the United States, seems like he's got something special that kids respond to and want to be a part of.

I'm glad it's here in Fayetteville and not anywhere else.

Obviously he had a good eye on Skipper and Koehler was going to UT before Pittman wasn't retained. He told our recruiting guys as much when he committed.

Maybe the issue he had at UT recruiting the instate kid was the lame duck staff because it didn't seem like he had problems recruiting at UNC.

Guess you also ignore the fact UT failed to sign a single lineman the previous year - that's right 0 - now the offensive line situation is a giant mess following this season

You do realize, don't you, that it's hard to recruit to a sinking program? Probably not based on your ignorant post.

How does arky get the best of everything?

Pitman sounds so awesome from this thread. I'm surprised I never heard of him before today.

Best head coach, best stadium, best OL coach, best fans, best school, best, best, best

You would be right if Pittman was the one who found Skipper, he wasn't. Like I said - he was about to decommit even with Pittman on staff and had said as much.

Even the shittiest of programs can land in state kids - who grew up fans of the program with 2 parents who went to the school. Pittman couldn't - what does that tell you about Pittman's awesomely amazing recruiting prowess?

Stop giving the credit to Pittman when Bielema should be getting it. You vastly overpaid for an above average offensive line coach is what it comes down to.

Every UT poster on here was SO pissed when Pittman left. So you're really not tricking anyone

So are you also going to discount everyone he signed at UNC?

The fact that Skipper was "planning to decommit" tells me the issue was more about the Tennessee program itself considering he turned around and recommitted to him at Arkansas.

Not really - he's better than the guy we have now more than likely. It's funny that you are paying him half a million though. The reason a lot of UT fans were pissed is because we went from Harry Hiestand to Pittman and Hiestand was just god awful so they had an inflated view of Pittman since the guy he replaced was so bad.

If I were Skipper I would decommit too when I had offers from Ohio State and Stanford - why he didn't go to either of those schools was pretty shocking to me with the level they are playing at and the education offered since he is a really bright kid.

And Butch Davis for your first question.

So by your logic no one at Alabama is a good recruiter and its all Nick Saban.

And on Skipper:

Probably because he liked Pittman. Like he said when he committed.

Commits to UT (Pittman lead recruiter)

Pittman hired at UARK

Skipper decommits from UT

Skipper then visits UARK via Sam Pittman(lead recruiter at UARK)

Commits to UARK

It is nice being in a position to pay coaches a good salary and not be a financial mess, ya know?

Sal Suneri and Lance Thompson really help to prove that argument. Lance Thompson was named recruiter of the year when we stole him 4 years ago or so. He whiffed continuously while here. They have a high turnover in their staff yet continue to get top 5 classes year after year.

Facepalm - you realize he was a soft verbal and expected to decommit before Dooley was even fired right?

So when a kid decommits it's Pittman's fault but when a kid commits it's because of the head coach

Gotcha

Lulz - wise guy probably think the debt isn't 99% tied to our stadium renovations and new indoor facility. You think we were honestly in the red that long in order to attain that high of a debt?

You can pay him as much as you want - but you could have a top 10 offensive line coach with that kind of money.. not an above average one.
