Don't know where you're planning to park but just a heads up. It looks like rain has caused the free parking at the Intramural fields and other overflow parking will be closed.... Good luck...

... Shouldn't be that big of a deal but a lotta visitors use the IM fields & the free shuttle bus service cause downtown/campus parking is a nightmare if you're not familiar with the area...

So you have a giant field where anyone can park for free near the stadium, and you're sorry that it's closed?
That's so Athens of you

And in a Publix parking lot? For shame, Bama fans, for shame.

The IM fields are two damned far away IMO. That's a nice hike after the game if you miss the shuttles. Parked there once to save $30 bucks and would pay $50 to not deal with organized transportation to and from the IMs.
Best tip is to get in Athens early (like no later than 8:30) and park at a metered spot downtown. Buy 2 hours and go eat breakfast at the Mayflower. Walk around DT for a couple hours and go back to meter right before it expires and buy 2 more hours. That will keep you good until 12:30ish. Go get tanked at some bars and enjoy the scene.
Upon return at around 8pm, you wil have a parking ticket around $15. Mail it in.
I used to do that until I realized there was a small free lot on North Campus that accommodates about 30 vehicles. Got to get there around 8am though.

quote:The thing is, this is one of those games that 20,000-25,000 at least without tix will descend on Athens just to be part of the party. The UT & AU games are a lot like this every other year but having you guys come in it just ramps it up even more...
Sounds like a nightmare.
