Why would Smart want to take a job like Auburn where he'll be playing second fiddle to Alabama for the entirety of his tenure there?
Smart would be smart to wait for Mack Brown and Texas to implode next year. He'll be all over that job.

What team has beaten bama more than any school in college football? What other SEC job may open up in the next few years where he could win like he could at AU?
If he had come to AU, installed "saban's process" and began to legitimately compete with saban, he would quickly rise to greatest or second best coach in NCAAF status. If he thinks he is a good enough coach, he would want that challenge. AU is about as good as it gets if you want to go head to head with the best in college football right now if you want the challenge.

I hope when Kirby leaves... it's to the NFL... then he doesn't take any recruits to his new job. I would have been the first to wish him well had the Eagles called.
