VT has a good D-line and stacked the box. Bama's O-line needs some work. It was the first game. It's not the end of the world.

That said, I'm still anxious to see how our CB's will do against an offense with a pulse.

And, Christion Jones decided to show me up last night since I've been saying all offseason that he's not a great returner. In fairness to me though, I think he caught lightening in a bottle. And the blocking for him looked much better than in the past.

Bama's OL definitely needs work but I'm glad Bama's coaches were able to get good real time game film last night. Especially against a solid experienced VT defesive front 7. Was kind disapointed the OC kept calling plays that played right into VT defensive strength though. Not sure if he was stuborn while thinking he had last years OL or the staff was testng things out with a comfortable lead. Time will tell, but the OL play has gotta improve.

Bottom line that was ugly, but that was one of the best DLs we will play all year. But to pick this one game to compare to Stoutland is delusional.

We certainly need to improve quickly though.

That VT front seven was one of the best that I saw yesterday. They were also playing with a chip on their shoulder.

Bama fans are used to getting teams best when they play Bama no matter who the team they're playing is.

I am not worried a bit about the O line or the offense they will be just fine after some looking at some of the mistakes they made on film and the practice field.

Because Bama's Special Teams and Defense did the scoring, and the game was well in hand, the Offense went vanilla. Win, first and foremost. Remember the LSU - Auburn game when they kept throwing the ball when they had the game in hand and AU returned them for TD's and won the game? Yeah, that can happen.

Here's one of my previous post from yesterday..
quote:

Bama's offense including the OL was bad against Western Kentucky last year which is when Fowler got hurt in the 4th qtr., the 1st team offense was still in the game the 4th qtr. because they really hadn't played worth of shidt the whole game and look where a Bama ended the year.......
This is how I feel about the game vs. VT.

I agree with the op. The o line was horrible and Saban
better get it fixed fast.

LSU would have destroyed us last night.

on a separate note... a LOT of flashbacks to the 2012 LSU game when the Tigers had our O-line figured out and A.J. was being JordanJeffersoned most of the game.

For the last time, I am not hating ot trolling. Just posting what I saw considering I watched your entire game. Your O was atrocious for the most part mainly because of your line.

It would look better on you if you would have said you was trolling. Vtech had 9 returning starters on D. It was our lines first game. And yeah bitch, after the last couple years, 21-0 cough cough, I would say you're hating.

Wrong.....That VT defense was better than the TCU defense that LSU played...

Nice bait, I'll bite.

I am concerned about the O-line, however, I also recognized that for some reason the play calling may have also been more vanilla than we've ever seen against a BCS caliber team. Stubbornly continuing to try to run with VaTech stacking 9 guys in the box, come on man.

If i were you though, I would be less concerned about Bama's o-line and more worried about LSU giving up 27 to TCU.
