Also, why do you think he will fail according to your definition?

Zero experience against quality defenses.
Zero experience leading a team on any college level.
Zero experience playing in the SEC.
Poor performance against sub-par competition while at FSU.
Coker coming off of knee surgery

These things could've been said about lots of qbs before they make their first start. AJ McCarron didn't look like a world beater as a backup either. Still won the starting job in 2011 and also won the championship.

In terms of injury, Coker had surgery to repair a torn meniscus. This is the same injury HaHa played through in the iron bowl. Of the possible knee injuries this one is fairly minor.

This is kind of like defining a word by using the word itself.

What is failure here to you? Not winning the job his first year? Winning the job and putting up X stats? Winning the job and Alabama losing X games?

Saying, failure is "not living up to expectations" is an empty statement. What are the expectations?

Dont play coy. Alabama fans think he will win the Qb competition and lead the team to a National Championship. Its laughable

Did Marshall play in the SEC before he went to Auburn? Did Marshall lead a team on ANY college level?

What does it matter if he played safety? How does that help you play QB?

Ill take two years as a backup over a year playing for a really bad juco.

I'll take Cam Newton and Nick Marshall, 2 SEC championships, 2 BCSNC appearances, 1 BCSNC, 1 maybe 2 Heisman trophies etc any day of the week over a back up Qb that plays poorly in mop up duty coming off of knee surgery

I'm not playing coy at all. Those aren't my expectations nor are they the expectations of a lot of Alabama fans, although I do think the majority of fans think he will win the QB competition.

So, just so I'm clear your opinion is that he will "fail to live up to expectations" and you have defined those expectations as Coker winning the starting QB job and Alabama winning the NC? Obviously, these are two very different things.

Let's break this down, do you think he wins the starting QB job this year?

Why does everybody make that comparison? Nick actually played, on the field, the year before. Yes, it was at the JUCO level, but he wasn't sitting and watching somebody else actually get the game experience.
