In your opinion, has it led to more funding, more donations, better infrastructure, newer buildings, increased quality of academics, etc.?

Without a doubt it's helped them in pretty much any way imaginable

To an amazing degree. We're the fastest growing university in the country. I couldn't begin to list it all. Tons of new academic buildings, totally revitalized engineering dept, enrollment has gone from around 22k to 37k mostly out of state etc etc

Absolutely. In fact it's not just the University, it's the whole city.

New buildings, shopping, restaurants, apartments, etc.

The City of Tuscaloosa owes Nick Saban a lot of gratitude.

Cool

Just wondering how much of an impact it was having. Has the city experienced any drastic changes because of it?

Football has helped no doubt, but we've also had excellent leadership at UA. The University has been transformed in the last 10 years.

Yes.

I moved from Tuscaloosa shortly after the April 27th tornado. The city/developers have done an amazing job of building on the area that was devastated by the storms path.

The main complaint I hear from my parents and others in Tuscaloosa is the number of student housing projects around the city. It happens when you add so many students in such a short period of time.

There is so much new stuff popping up in Tuscaloosa. The city is working well with the University to grow the city. New restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, condos, etc.

The city has gone through a lot of changes, but I wouldn't say it's because of Saban.

I guess this would be my follow up question: How much can you actually attribute to football and how much is just good planning/management/typical growth to be expected for a major state university?

Not all Saban, but he certainly has helped.

Yes....campus is freaking packed with out of state students. Tons of Texas kids running around. It's a daily frustration.

The university's expansion and the 2011 tornadoes have changed the city in many ways. We have full public transportation. Students don't have to own cars, which was unthinkable when I was there. The shopping and restaurants are much better. Many nice new apartment complexes, etc.

It certainly has. I had friends/Alums who didnt really want their kids to follow their footsteps to bama for a while. They thought the university was sub par in comparison to other schools in the region. The school and town have changed quite a bit in a relatively short period of time
