I don't know, but on TV it looks like it's lit with lanterns and the seats are 300 yards from the field due to the low, gradual incline.

It is. I was in like the 25th or so row for the game vs. Texas, but it felt like I was about only 5 feet above the field, but like a mile away from it as well. The have done some renovations since then, but it was a dump. As others have said, you have to leave the stadium proper to go to any sort of facilities. All the concession stands in my area were out of almost everything by half time. No more drink cups, ice, etc. They had beer cups, but no beer left.

The field looked very nice since they replaced it as soon as The Rose Bowl was over, but you could feel it move under your feet. Very strange feeling.

If I were to rank it with the rest of the SEC stadiums (not counting Mizzou, UK, or A&M) I would place it above Ole Miss, Miss St, and Vandy and on par with South Carolina and Tennessee.

Ugh..hate hearing it was tough getting in and out... The stadium in Glendale was fugging miserable to get in and out of in the '10 game....atrocious doesn't even begin to describe it. But the noise there was INSANE!
Looking forward to getting to cross something off my bucket list though at the Rose Bowl, and doing while seeing AU play for its 2nd Natty in 3 years = speechless

Those of you who are trashing it probably have never been there or your just mad as frisk cause it's definitely the best CFB venue in the country. I saw the 2007 Rose Bowl and couldn't have had a better experience.

No it's not. It has history, sure, but it is a dump now compared to most stadiums. If it didn't have the "Rose Bowl" name attached to it they would have already torn it down.

Yeah I was in the MDB when we went. Even with out police escourt it still took FOREVER to get out of there. By the time we got back to our hotel it was almost time for ESPN to show the late night replay of the game (2am Central time or so).

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the stadium itself is a mixed bag but the history and surroundings could make up for that.

you arent going for the stadium, you are going for the experience. the stadium is old and is far from being the nicest, but not a single other place comes close to atmosphere and history. everyone should make it to at least one rose bowl game/national title being played there

I was there in 2010. Everyone else is right. It was a bitch to get in and out of. The only venue I've been to where they make the portals one way traffic. I didn't even try to get any food or drinks because I would have missed an entire quarter.

One big screen. Rows move away from the field. Row 20 is like being in Van Nuys. Being objective.

Christ that's weird.

It's like John Daly being invited to join Augusta
National or that ghangum dude from Korea being invited to play Carnegie Hall.

go to the bathroom and get your drinks before the game or you're going to miss about a half a quarter of football each time you leave the stadium, which you have to do to use the bathroom.

Then you don't understand how important the State Fair is to the city. They'll never move the game. Best case scenario is that Dallas gets the Olympics. They'll turn Fair Park in to the Olympic Village and it will kick start massive renovations to that area post-Olympics starting with actual livable areas.

Jerry tried to do this: renovate the CB and move the Cowboys back. Dallas said no.

Was there in January 2010 as well. The crowd flow is, in fact, a nightmare. I remember getting a beer before the game talking to some Bama fan who was just all pissed about the facilities. I didn't get it: it's the mecca of college football and I was in awe the whole game. Give me that over some soulless place like Jerry World any day of the week. People crying because they couldn't get fricking skittles quick enough are just being pussies. Go in, enjoy the game, leave.

Look, it's old as crap...and there's not much you can do with it to upgrade short of scraping the whole thing...and they're not going to do that.

It's not particularly fan friendly - as just a building - it's not modern. But that's sort of the whole point.

The actual Rose Bowl game - which is different than the stadium hosting the BCS Champ game - is my favorite CFB experience and place to watch a game...the festivities, the clear sunny day, the tradition and pageantry and parades.

I don't remember anyone ever complaining they were at the Rose Bowl Game.

Regular season or BCS night game - maybe it's different and the vibe isn't there and all you are thinking about is bathroom breaks.

I've lived about an hour from the Rose Bowl for about 13 years. I've been to 4 games there and it's a great stadium. It's very much an old school stadium and unlike any SEC stadium I've been too, but over all it's a great atmosphere. The only seating I didn't like was the one time I sat at the top of one end zone. Parking is not too bad. It's not luxury but a good old school vibe. Pasadena is also a great city.
