You LSU fans just can't let 2011 go.
You got the opportunity to play in the championship game, it's on your team for deciding not to actually show up.
Honestly the way LSU played that night in your home state stadium, I'd doubt they'd have beaten any other team you think "should have" been there.

Exactly.

If LSU's only loss this year had been the overtime loss to Bama, who would say that LSU shouldn't be in the playoff?

Me.

I don't want to see football conference championships go the way baseball and basketball conference championships have gone. Winning the conference championship in football should mean something.

Funny how much has changed since 2011.

It did. LSU got to play in the championship game.
Oklahoma State didn't play a conference championship game.
As I stated earlier, the way LSU played on 1/9/12, they wouldn't have beaten any other contender that night.

Wrong. Most of CFB gives Tide full credit. You constantly hear media refer to Bama winning 3 out of 4.

Most of Lsu will never give Bama full credit, but when you only cross the 50 once, don't break 100 yards of total O, get shut out, and get beat 21-0 the rest of college football can clearly see who was the best team in CFB in 2011.

Not because they won the conference championship, only because they were ranked #1 in the BCS.

And if the BCS had been made up of only computer 'polls', and not used a subjectve 'committee', Okie State would've gotten in over Alabama.

It's the same way they played and baet Alabama at Alabama, it's the same way they played and beat top 5 Arkansas, it's the same way they played and beat Georgia in the SECCG. Saban had seen it, played against it, lost to it, and came up with a better game plan the next time around.

People seem to think that 21-0 game was 3 TDs for Alabama. The game was 9-0 at the half. UGA led 10-7 at the half, and lost 42-10. Arkansas led 14-7 with 3:30 to go in the half and lost 41-17. Saban just had a bettter game plan the second time around. The key was not turning the ball over, and limiting LSU's first downs in the first half so the running game wouldn't wear down Bama's defense.

There's no doubt about it in my mind, Saban is the best coach in college football right now, and he showed in his preparation for the re-match.

Different perception that season.

The SEC was in the midst of it's total domination of college football. Alabama was widely considered the top team in the nation, and nobody had them less then #2 before the first LSU/Bama game. Both LSU and Alabama were curb-stomping everyone, including #3 Arkansas. The first game was a slugfest that went into OT before LSU won in a battle of wills. Alabama ended up getting in, but with LSU, not instead of them.

Nobody anywhere thinks you take both TCU and Baylor. It seems like TCU is the "preferred" team (like Alabama in 2011), but you can't take them over Baylor without a gigantic shite-storm, not after Baylor won head-to-head and ended up with the same record.

Ohio St has done enough to be an acceptable entry, and it allows the committee to avoid that shite-storm.

What 'mulligan'? OSU won their conference and Bama didn't. The computers had OSU #2, and according to everyone this morning, winning the SEC is suddenly important again.
