how can people possibly believe this. The only way to accept that as true is if you believe the rankings are completely accurate.
you really need to look at the preseason poll again.

a 2-4 team is now considered a good win?
Aight, well LSU beat 3-2 Syracuse on the road, so that's a good win too then right?

Wisonsin has losses to Iowa and Alabama. They have wins against Miami of Ohio, Hawaii, Troy, and Nebraska. They're good?

has wins against Monroe, Vanderbilt, USC, and Southern. They have losses to the only semi-decent teams they've faced. So UGA is good?

I don't agree this is an attack. It's an accurate reminder. Neither Alabama or LSU have beaten anyone currently perceived to be top 25.
now, LSU doesn't have a loss, so they could be the best team in the country, we just don't have enough information yet. Alabama however...

They are all legit games
Did you read my posts?? I said MSU would beat easily 3 of those 4
I'm not crowning any of those as awesome but all were legit opponents
And I forgot Syracuse, they count so LSU has 2 with one being better than at least 3 of Bama's 4
My posts address the ops premise that neither LSU not Bama have panted anyone, so get your panties out of a wad.

Well, that in of itself has a big ol' asterisk also, because then you have to ask if a Georgia team with Nick Chubb is Top 25 material or not.
That said, it's clearly an attack - otherwise why bring it up? Alabama plays A&M this weekend and LSU plays Florida. If both Bama and LSU win, then their showdown LIKELY will determine the West. That's not an attack on Ole Miss, just an accurate reminder that they still have to play LSU and A&M.

That possible "best QB in the country" is a cheater and is suspended for the remainder of the season. And how can you consider Florida a cupcake? They just took a big dookie on Ole Miss' chest.

because some LSU and Bama fans (which lets be honest, bama could be 2-3 and you could still find people claiming they are the best team in the country) are expressing way too much confidence in their team given what has actually been accomplished so far.

5-0, ho.

Well, first off - you're talking *FANS*, not players, so I doubt any level of confidence I do or do not possess is relevant to anything.
Secondly, while one might make the argument that Alabama and LSU have no wins over current top 25 opponents, their SOSs are:
Teamrankings.com - Alabama 2, LSU 29
Sagarin - Alabama 9, LSU 49
PredictionMachine.com - Alabama 9, LSU 47
That said, as stated already in this thread, LSU and Alabama are BOTH holding opposing teams well below their averages on offenses, and gaining well above their average on defense compared to other P5 teams.
Alabama holding teams nearly 100 yards below their standard output AND playing a consensus top 10 SOS I, imagine, would have many Bama fans pretty confident in the defense.

In order for a team to remain in the top 25, they need to avoid getting blown out.
LSU dominates team-team gets knocked out of rankings
LSU wins close game-team stays in rankings
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Either go by what they are ranked when the teams play or wait until the end of the season rankings to continue this jargon.
