Gumps

Please save me time from searching this board and give me the scoop on your QB picture heading into September?

Who is most likely to start and what are their strengths/weaknesses? Don't y'all have a stud freshman coming in?

Blake Barnett. Very mobile, 5*, number 2 rated pro-style QB in last years class.

Cooper Bateman - most experience / great athlete / probably below average arm.

David Cornwell - great size / above average arm / inexperienced / potentially landed himself in the Saban doghouse

Blake Barnett - potentially great size (needs to gain weight) / great athlete / above average arm / young and inexperienced / highest ceiling amongst all competitors

Jalen Hurts - true Frosh / fantastic athlete / quick release / smart player coaches son

Blake Barnett is probably the fan favorite. He has put on some weight and has been a very serviceable scout team QB. If he wins the job he'll be the most athletic QB we've had in a while. Hurts and Bateman will give him a good challenge.

At the very least the QBs mechanics will be vastly superior. I love Jake for what he was able to accomplish for us but I absolutely hated his throwing style.

We improve at that position, upgrade at RT, get our other 5* WR back, replace our Heisman winning rb with a faster version of him and we may keep our 5* speedy TE.

Im very interested to see what Kiffin can do with Barnett....if Kiffin stays.

A true dual threat QB, no shade to Blake Sims, but this Barnett kid seems have some tools that could make him dangerous in the SEC next year.

Cornwell isn't a statue either. I liked his film coming out of HS.

I loved Cornwell's film as well. Blake is the highest rated QB Saban has ever had at UA, so hopefully we can see this Crimson Tide machine with a legitimate high round QB prospect leading it. Could be scary.

You should because he was vastly overrated.

I just want a QB in there who can run and be a dual threat especially after how garbage the pass protection was this season. Get a guy in there who can avoid sacks and make plays with his feet.

Hopefully our next starter displays some Sims style escapability

Blake Barnette
He will be the best Alabama qb as of late. And we have had some damn good ones.

Bateman and Barnett battle with Hurts redshirting. Cornwell is the wild card if he sticks around. Most people think Barnett, but history shows us Saban goes with the older guy most times, so Bateman shouldn't be discounted.

Not according to the rest of the country, got the Heisman. At least he has the real hardware to show it and not just making the pose after another lackluster loss and a bunch of swamp rats telling the world how good he is.

Yea, anytime you have a running back have a year when he does something no other running back in the history of SEC running backs has done, breaks SEC records that over 3 decades old, wins the Heisman (and multiple other awards given to him by people who know a bit more about it than you do), wins a National Championship and breaks all sort of school records, he has to be overrated.

Most fans, and even a lot of the talkin' head/analysts, are saying it will be Barnett...and I think that may be more likely. But it wouldn't surprise me if it's Cooper Bateman...

Ask LSU's defense if they think he was vastly overrated...
