That was a 2 week icu stay. 2008 - Car accident. Hospitalized for relatively minor injuries and a mild concussion 2009 - Mini-stroke 2009 - Kidney problems related to his condition. 2010 - Ulcers at the top and bottom of his stomach were causing internal bleeding. Had to receive several pints of blood and surgery to repair them. 2010 - Severe seizures requiring hospitalization 2011 - Had a benign growth in his testicles that caused severe pain/large amounts of swelling. Had to be removed. 2012 - Lymphadenitis - swelling/infection in the lymph nodes. 2013 - They finally put the poor man in a permanent port so he doesn't have to be stuck quite as much now. Not that he has many if any veins you can work with. 2013 - Gall Bladder removal 2013 - Had his remaining teeth removed and replaced with implants.

My dad did all of these things on purpose.

Washington is a great choice mostly because of his humility. He was able to resist the temptation that was offered several times to basically make him America's king. Resisting the lust of power has to be hard especially that level of power. Washington I don't think gets enough credit for creating the true measure of what it means to be President and for his true love of this country over even himself.

Exactly and when you look at how he lead men against the biggest of odds, you get a glimpse of a man filled with great courage.

Washington was aware of the big picture, he followed his script really well.

Pffft, Teddy wouldnt' shake a stick at Andrew Jackson. AJ told his would be dueler to shoot first. AJ took the bullet and shook it off. Other guy, not so lucky.

While president, AJ gave his would-be pistol assassin a near death beating with a stick. He was saved by presidential aides.

Only badasses get a nickname 'Old Hickory'.

Thomas "The Fighting Gamecock" Sumter ... of course I do. Everyone does. There is no denying him or Francis Marion. And you had to be a real badass to be named Francis in those days.

Nathan Bedford, Robert Edward and Thomas Jonathan ... I have portraits of all three of those men on a main wall in my library.

Forrest is, without a doubt, the most vilanized great man of all time. I almost named one of my girls after him but my first wife wouldn't allow it unfortunately.

I picture Sumter and Marion as Mel Gibson.

You know Sumter was a badass when Cornwallic called him his "greatest plague."
