I was in line at the grocery store and two guys were saying they imagine the referee crew would get a two week suspension over the missed call that cost Ole Miss the game. I watched the game but didn't see anything that was controversial. Did I miss something?

Only in the minds of a few Rebs. They think the lateral should have been called a fumble and not allowed to be advanced.
Most everyone else says they're wrong.

They're referring to the lateral that the ole miss bears want to claim is a non advancable fumble.

You heard wrong. Tom Ritter was just arrested. He's looking at one month in jail. We should all be grateful.

the only controversial call was the bullshite PI to keep Ole Miss' drive alive at the end of the 1st half and a free 3 points

Sigh. No. You didn't. Its been discussed to death. A lateral can be advanced. A forward fumble cannot.
That is that. To Ole Miss... you played a magnificent game. That being said... you lose, good day Sir.

Is this one of them?

It wasn't a bad call. Refs got it right. The defense cost us the game by walking around all night and letting Brandon Allen abuse them. Had they played with a pulse, we wouldn't have been in that position.

Once the ball hits the ground, it should be classified as a fumble... not sure how the rule book can differentiate between a backward pass that hits the ground and a fumble, but whatever.

The "rulebook" has long differentiated between different situations where the ball hits the ground. For example, a "muffed punt" is not the same as a "fumble". A backwards pass is a lateral, not a fumble.

Worst call of the night was Freeze going for it on 4th down at midfield with 0:16 left in the game after Brandon Allen had been dropping bombs on his defense all night long.
Arkansas should have won it in regulation to begin with, but the kick was blocked.
OR
The worst call of the game was the no call PI call on Sprinkle going into the end zone that would have put Arkansas up by 14 points with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Then, an even worse call on the PI call against Arkansas to put Ole Miss in nearly FG range just before the half.

It's merely ruled a fumble when the defender recovers for stat purposes.

Skipper dropped the pass first.

But once the ball hits the ground, it is no different than a fumble.
Look, I don't care... but it makes no sense to me to allow the offense to advance a lateral that hits the ground and not a fumble... They're treated the same on the other three downs... Why the difference in 4th?
Why not just allow all fumbles to be advanced.

Its the same line of thinking of a skip pass...
A QB can throw the ball backwards, skip off the turf and to the WR, and it is still a live ball.
