B10 Retaliation? by BuckI

College athletics is part of the culture from Oklahoma to South Carolina and all points in between.

That is all well and good but that reasoning has always doomed the south. The mission of most Universities is academics before athletics. The B1G is building relations with very important partners in business, government, and media. From the beltway and the Big Apple to Hollywood, the B1G is building a bright future and setting itself up to be the dominant force in college athletics.

Doesn't these 11 words totally CONTRADICT the rest of your post?

Are you fricking high? Relatively speaking, Hollywood and New York have never given a shite about college football, and they never will.

I can't think of a lineup of more obvious poster children for loss of influence, respect and sway in this country than these three. Good luck with your "bright future".

Look man, I get that you’re trolling. The problem is that this is very bad work. A good troll has a morsel of truth such that the trollees are triggered by that truth. But there’s no morsel of truth here. Time and time again the BIG reacts to try to keep up with the SEC. The only area where the BIG seems to set the pace is institutionalized rape and pedophilia. So you have that I guess?

The south has always excelled at sports, just early in the history the writers and media were in the North and the East so they always discounted the South. Now industry has moved south and the advantage the B1G once had is fading fast. Detroit was the GLOBAL auto center of the universe and that helped grow MI + OH + IN but now they make lots of cars south of the Ohio Ocean. The only people I have met in the world with the same crazy attachment to sports are folks in the South and folks in Australia.

No doubt brother! The sham is saying it is equal at Harvard and Ohio State, that is where you have been drinking too much BuckNut Koolaid. Big state schools like Alabama and Ohio State use athletics as "infomercials" they get paid to broadcast instead of paying broadcasters. University of Chicago was the cock of the walk in B1G athletic dominance and it took them dropping out to even allow BuckNuts to have a notable football team. University of Chicago was honest and let go of athletics to focus on academics, to say BuckNuts is their equal is a joke.

Not sure of your point is here? SEC and B1G have both. The only real difference is the SEC has product to sell while the B1G has population to sell. The problem is folks in the B1G are too arrogant to realize this. SEC has sports year around to sell while the B1G has a few teams that used to be famous that nobody watches anymore and a whole lot of schools nobody wants to watch year round

B1G is adding population and not understanding they have a product that is getting dated. In the 1950's the country would tune in to watch BuckNuts and Illinois but now they want to watch Alabama play Florida. SEC can sell women's gymnastic's across the league and it will do ratings butt whipping on most anything the B1G puts on TV for the men. Who wants to see B1G baseball, M gymnastics, or M wrestling?

Reminds me of TCU experience when they were playing very good football but in the Mountain West conference. This was post merging of the Big 8 and SWC and only 4 Texas teams were to be part of the new Big 12. (Texas politicians drove the decisions and chose Baylor over TCU to be part of the new conference- along with Texas, A&M and Texas Tech). Though T C U was doing well the fact of playing games in Pacific time zone was a major detriment to viewership. Now, with a 4-time zone assortment of schools in a coast-to-coast B1G do not underestimate the problems this will create for TV.

The “alliance” between all the non-SEC CONFERENCES basically produced “The prisoners dilemma “ for all schools in those conferences. USC and UCLA cracked first and jumped before the other schools so they weren’t left holding their cocks.
