Lol Wichita State fans don't even have to write up excuses, Auburn fans will make them up for you.

We just upset Greg Marshall and the 20th ranked Wichita St Shockers. If you recall GM was indignant that he would even lower himself to consider such a lowly program as Bama. And RMFTR!

It's ok. Yall can hire a really good baseball coach since football and basketball won't work out now

WSU did have Ron Baker out there. He's better than any player Bama has trotted out there in years. I think it's a big win for Bama.

Good, not great, win. Still a positive for what is going to be a rough season. Not a lot of skill on this team. Riley Norris is probably our best playmaker.

The verdict on Johnson will be out until at least next season. I know the OP is obsessed with Bama, but declaring his tenure a success or failure after four games is beyond idiotic. He does have some talent coming in next season and he will have a chance to make his mark on the program.

He built his reputation on Dirk Nowitzki's back. He was a shitty NBA coach if you followed the Mavs. Wins or not, he wasn't the reason they excelled. I'm not surprised that he's bombed everywhere he hasn't had a hall of famer.

So he's bombed once.

Not scorer, but in terms of making decisions with the ball he scares me the least. Ingram will be in time, but right now he's a bit of a loose cannon.

The nets hired a coach that never coached before soon after firing Avery. They were that desperate.

Norris is a good player off the bench, but Ingram I think is our best all around player. Fights for rebounds, shot 7-10 from the charity stripe, can hit it from beyond the arc, and knows how to attack the basket

Wichita State Didn't have Fred Van Vlett (Best player)

Our best player has to sit this year out. They WSU still put a more talented team on the court than we did.

I can't believe you trolled so many. Your threads and posts suck arse, and yet posters couldn't resist responding. They even are using a win today to try a reverse troll.

Sad times

I'd count his time with the Mavs as a "bomb." The worst was 2007 playoffs, after winning 67 games, when he attempted to match up with the 8th seed Warriors. But he had this "defensive" identity that didn't show confidence in his own team's abilities inevitably.

His stint with the Nets was obviously a failure.

I love Avery as a person. I just don't think he's a great coach. He very well could turn into one at Bama, but that seems unlikely.

Wasn't that the 8 seed Warriors that shot the lights out with Stephen Jackson? There wasn't much the Mavs roster could do about that. I thought he was a pretty good NBA coach. That defense today against Wichita St was pretty good. Once he gets some shooters it could be fun in this state (if Bama ever has the balls to play UAB).

Yeah coached by one Avery's mentors. They had swept the Mavs in the regular season and were a really bad matchup. Their small ball lineup really killed them and Dirk had a very unmemorable postseason, especially in the final game.

The guy most people consider the best coach in basketball, Pop, lost as a 1 seed to an 8 seed once.

It is convenient that he didn't mention their finals trip. A good chunk of people felt the Mavs got a bit screwed in that series because of how much Wade lived at the line.

It really wasn't. He was coaching a team that was rebuilding and moving to a different city. They basically didn't have home crowds when they were in New Jersey. That Brooklyn Nets era even post Avery has become a laughing stock. He was forced out by an All-Star player, who was no longer an All-Star, but still believed he was one. Deron Williams is notorious for being a damn coach killer. That team had some absurd expectations placed on it, that in retrospect look ridiculous.
