Additionally, why the frick would the SEC care if AU or MSU won the game

Didn't you see earlier? The sec only calls in favor of bama auburn and Florida. The guy said he knows several sec refs, so it must be true.

Another gem from the same poster that was quoted in the OP:

Why Would Malzahn Turn Down Vandy @ 3 Million?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After all - its North Texas week........................

Malzahn was offered an unheard of contract for Vanderbilt, a 3 million dollar, multi-year deal, to coach in the SEC. He was faced with deciding to take this, or stay as an assiatnt at auburn, and take the field with a ton of youth, new offensive line, and a new, less athletic starter at QB.

Just a few years removed from coaching high school football in the state of Arkansas, Malzahn turned down the Vandy offer, to stay as an assistant at auburn for 1.3 million a year - an astounding salary for an assistant, but still less than half what he would have made at Vandy.

Gustav turned down a multi-year deal at an SEC Institution, a deal that would have made him one of the ten highest paid coaches in the game, and without having ecer won a game at this level.

Why????

Some of the possibilities............................

Did Malzahn think it was a dead end job?? Come on Man - Gerry Dinardo translated 4 years at Vandy into a head job at LSU, despite never having a winning season. If Malzahn could win just 6 or 7 games and make a minor bowl in his first 3 or 4 years, he would be in the cat birds seat. Gustav could then likely have his pick of almost all the premier jobs that came open.

Or he could re-negotiaite a better deal at Vandy.

And what better time to take over at Vandy??? Tennessee down and re-building, Florida down a notch or two and with a new staff, UGA struggling.
I would say this is the best time to take a job at Vandy in modern times.

So why would Gustav stay in auburn?? An auburn program under an NCAA microscope, even???

Some speculation as to the reason..........................................

1) Did one of the Aub power brokers promise him the auburn job, if things went South for Chizik??

2) Did Gustav like the "Old Way" of aub recruiting and program management, and realize he could not do certain things in Nashville that he could in auburn?

Malzahn is tied in with Walt Williams, the slimy street agent from Pinnacle Preps. We know auburn also deals with street agents currently under NCAA review in Louisiana and South Florida. In fact, Gustav himself was a street agent of sorts, when he brokered the OC postion at Arkansas for himself by serving up the Springdale 3 to Houston Nutt.

Was Malzahn waiting on another job to open up, one that he knew would be more open to the auburn model than Vanderbilt??

3) Is there some strong-arming behind the scenes by the corrupt auburn power brokers??

Is there something that Malzahn has done or knows that could be used as a lever to keep him in auburn, at least for a mutually agreed upon short time??

It is just very curious that a guy pursuing upward-mobility with such aggression the last few years would turn down a Head Coaching position making him one of the top ten paid coaches in all of football.

Why???
