I guess those two scumbags were too stupid or too classless to understand the purpose of a service dog. I'm guessing it is a combination of both.

For people with a normal IQ or a modicum of class that would have been the first tip off.

Here is my take:

1. The players should not have been teasing, threatening and harassing any female like that, especially not calling her a bitch. Any man should know better, especially when it is two huge football players v. one girl.

2. The players had no reason to know she was a vet. So take the whole "veteran respect" discussion off the table.

3. They likely had no idea it was a service dog since the woman had no outward signs of a disability and it is not common knowledge that people with PTSD use service dogs. I had never heard of that until now. So take the "respect for the disabled" conversation off the table as well.

From the standpoint of the two players, they were harassing a female student and deserve whatever punishment would be appropriate for that.

Originally, that was my thought when the story came out, however, there have been reports from supposed witnesses to the altercation that it didn't exactly go down as first reported. There's a link on the original thread, so take it for what it's worth.

It sounds like she was paranoid feared everything to begin with.

That's my take as well. She snapped on them and they called her a bitch. Should they have? Of course not. But I'm sure they were taken back by her livid reaction.

If you're walking your dog in public, you're going to get people that react to it. If it's a service dog, mark it as such, especially if people can't see you're disabled.

Just read somewhere her PTSD is actually from sexual assault while she was in the air force.

ETA: I could have read it in the article. Didn't read it since I've read a couple others already.

You are so fricking out of your element here, I'd suggest you exit this thread now.

She was raped, hence the PTSD. Two large men getting close to her personal space is probably a pretty sensitive trigger for her.

It gets better.

Guess this makes her less of a veteran.

Um I think you are taking what I am saying incorrectly. I am not denying that she has PTSD or that the PTSD makes it hard for her to be out in public interacting with people. She had done an interview stating that she couldn't go to the grocery store or movies for a long time until she had the dog.

That being said, I can see two huge guys getting close to pet a dog kicking a trigger for her to be outwardly defensive which made the players get defensive and her condition exaggerating the incident in her head. The brain is a very weird thing.

Any which way, they said they wanted an apology and they got one from everyone. There is no reason to keep trashing the University.
