This morning every local news network
ran positive stories about Harvey and the charity.

That was before the event was dropped.

I'm sure it would have pulled a national spot later on

I think the event will take a huge hit.

They kind of shaped it how Auburn can forgive an idiot
while helping a great cause.

I didn't tell one. Lost two trees in the yard this year and never once considered them family members.

I remember reading BOL during 2010 and well
before the Iron Bowl, there was a "joke" going around
about attacking Toomers with spike.

I just thought it was idiots talking shite,
mad about the Newton drama.

When it happened, I was embarrassed.
It just goes to show what evil these boards
can do if you spill hate.

There may be a Harvey that takes it too far...

Well, it may take away some of the gump money that would have flocked to see their demigod. I actually think some of the Auburn money they raise wouldn't have been possible if Updyke was there, so it will all even out in the wash.

Not all Bama fans support Harvey.

I certainly don't and I've never met a UA fan that did

I would like to see AU dropping him in a tank
and pie facing his sorry arse.

There is a huge difference in a bama fan and a gump. Sadly, the majority of your fanbase is made up of gumps. I have seen people talking about seeing Updyke at the NC game in New Orleans having a line of bama fans wanting a picture with him......some of the people talking about it were a part of your fanbase. He was put on a pedestal by many in your fanbase. Go back and read through this thread....most bama fans, in this thread, say he is the victim in this. Us mean Auburn people need to let it go....they were just trees anyways. To most of your fanbase, Nova and Spirit are just birds. Like I said earlier in the thread.....let some nut blow up Denny Chimes. or cut down your statues, and see how bama fans feel about that person. Nothing is ever a big deal, until it affects you.

If someone blew up Denny Chimes, I would not be okay with them receiving death threats. It's really simple. Any human life>a monument.

You are trying to rationalize someone threatening another man's life. I can't stand Updyke and want him ostracized from every Alabama-related function, but death threats are clearly over the line.

Of course death threats are over the line, but so is equating Toomer's Corner to just trees. That's just not true in the least bit.

If something is really, and I mean really, important...it outlast tangible things.

The oak trees are dead and gone. Toomers Corner lives on.

It's time to call a spade a spade. Harvey is a fricking dipshit. Let it go.

Updyke is not right in the head. But one thing that needs to be pointed out was the jersey on the Bear statue that set him off.

Granted that is a harmless prank in reality, but it was enough to cause a man with very questionable mental stability to feel like he needed to seek vengeance.

There have been several instances of jerseys on statues, and the IB score branded into the grass.
Does this compare to the tree killings? No, but the Barn and Corndog fans are not without sin so to speak.
