Smoke can do as he pleases. No one will truly notice or care.

In other news, I do find it ironic that AU threw a decades long fit over playing in Birmingham, yet they find themselves back there more often than Bama.

Playing Alabama...in their home stadium. Not the same as playing Houston in a meaningless bowl game in UAB's stadium.

Do you really not see a difference?

Did Alabama not play home games in Legion field before you remodeled Bryant-Denny? At least a few a year when I was in school.

It was clearly a home game for Alabama. But the point does stand that it's not remotely similar.

I'll just leave this here...

quote:

Well into the 1980s, Alabama played most of its important games, as well as the Iron Bowl, at Legion Field—to the point that most of Alabama's "home" football history from the 1920s to the 1980s took place in Birmingham.[13] In addition to the larger capacity, Birmingham was more accessible than Tuscaloosa for much of the 20th century—even though Tuscaloosa is only 45 minutes west of Birmingham. The Crimson Tide hosted Tennessee in odd-numbered years in Birmingham until 1998, and hosted LSU in even-numbered years from 1964 through 1986, except for 1980. Well into the 1990s, Alabama usually played anywhere from three to four home games a year at Legion Field. Alabama also played its entire 1987 home schedule at Legion Field due to major renovations at Bryant–Denny Stadium.[13] The stadium's association with Alabama football was so strong that from the 1980s onward

You're typically less touchy, Leto. Au is in good hands. Fewer Bham Bowls in their future under Harsin. Gus was a gimmicky clown. You have a great coach, buck up

Auburn, I can give a care less what you think about Arkansas. Your opinions are unimportant.

I will agree with you there. I'm clearly not happy playing in that bowl, but honestly when you get outside the NY6 they don't really matter. Hell even those don't count for much anymore either, but I'd rather be there than Birmingham.

Oh, so that's why you took the time to read and comment in an Auburn thread.

If there's one school in the SEC that has zero room to talk shite to Auburn, it's Arkansas.

AU fans have no problem calling it the Iron Bowl (seem to hear the reference more from AU fans than UA fans). Need to drop it because it is no longer played in Bham.

It's always going to be called the Iron Bowl. If you have an issue with it, you may want to take it up with the media though.

Haha, Just grinds my gears when someone says it (i.e. golfing vs playing golf)especially coming from an AU fan. Why call the IB if you hated being played in Bham so much?

Well I was in 9th grade when the game moved so I didn't have any say in it.

But the fact is that Legion Field, specifically, was a de-facto home field for Alabama. To say otherwise is disingenuous. If that wasn't the case, why did you still play your "home game" Iron Bowls there rather than Bryant-Denny after we moved ours to Auburn?

Auburn played an occassional "home game" at Legion Field as late as 1978. Auburn played Georgia Tech and Tennessee at Legion Field in 1968.

Alabama only played three "home" Iron Bowls at Legion Field after Auburn played their last one there.
