Probably should have clarified. South Carolina fans brag about beating Missouri, while Missouri played for hardware. It's interesting seeing LSU fans do the same to me

Okay, that makes sense. We all cling to whatever accomplishments our team can claim in years where we don't win it.

I agree completely. I never claimed domination or anything like that. The game was very evenly matched. I just take exception to Auburn fans that chalk it up as a fluke.

Yet you don't have a problem doing it to auburn's season in the op

Auburn perceptions of 35-21
Auburn lost, period.

From watching the game, I gathered that the weather did, indeed, hurt Auburn's offensive gameplan in the first half (also caused Jaylon Denson to tear his ACL). LSU dominated the first half. However, in the second half, Auburn seemed to find a spark and made it a really close game. The score was 35-21, with a couple minutes left, with Auburn inside the 5 yard line. A penalty on Pat Miller caused us to go backwards. Auburn also seemed to find a little bit of identity on offense that was catapulted through the rest of the season.

Auburn lost, LSU won - but it wasn't a beatdown like RickyDaddy and some LSU fans like to boast. LSU caught Auburn at the right point in the season, because had the game been later in the year, Auburn wins. However, it wasn't, and we lost in the end.

It's just part of fandom. Fans often take a revisionist approach to past games. It's interesting to think what the narratives would be if certain plays in a particular game go a different way. What id Cody doesn't black that UT FG in 2009? What if the UGA defenders bat Marshall's pass to the turf? What if Yeldon gets that 1st down late in the 4th qtr against Auburn? What if Aubrun doesn't muff a punt or two early in the LSU game?

I would love to know what happened in the AU locker room at half. Seems that was the pivot point in the season. But, yeah, we got beat at Baton Rouge and I was just so glad to see them not quit like they did with Chiz.

Rain and muffed punts won the game for LSU...sorry for breaking your heart.

If anything the rain was a wash as for as an advantage for either team as the stadium atmosphere was nothing like it normally is for a night game in TS vs. Auburn and the stadium was basically empty for the 4th quarter when Auburn tightened things up.

Also is 6 out of 7 a fluke or more of a pattern?

Umm LSU played in the dew as well.

At the time, the LSU offense was a pass first offense that actually opened up Jeremy Hill more. LSU got out to a quick 21-0 lead.

Auburn played tough, hung in there and later in the game made a good comeback.

AU didn't attempt any passes downfield in this game.

Blaming the weather is a sorry excuse.

After watching this team, I actually think the timing of this game was a good thing. After the attitude of last year and shaky start to this season, they needed that gut punch. I won't say a loss is a good thing, but if it had to happen, this was the time. Everyone who watched, knew coming out of that second half that Auburn was not the same team. They weren't going to quit like last year.

As for the game, Auburn started slowly and made some mistakes. LSU capitalized. It's pretty simple. Auburn was playing a style that didn't quite fit their personnel and adjustments were made to amend that situation.

Marshall threw 33 passes that game. That tells you the coaches had no idea what his strengths were that early in the season.

To summarize, if they had played in November, I am confident Auburn would have won. But they didn't, so LSU was the better team that day.

I think we beat you in december. after us you just played inferior teams till you got to Bama, and I think home field in a rivalry game was enough to give y'all an edge there.

Obviously LSU could loss to Auburn. we lost to Ole Mis for G-d's sake. However if LSU and Auburn played 100 times i think it would look 60-40 LSU.

It is such a joke excuse to say your coaches had no idea their own teams strengths.

Dude, you responded to a post making fun of Marshall.

As far as the game, LSU was the better team and won. Congratz. But, as others have posted, the didn't quit and learned from that game. The got better and simply refused to quit. The Lost the MNC but I loved that team's heart. One of my favorite Auburn teams.

Highly doubtful.

Georgia (who beat LSU)? Ole Miss (who also beat LSU)? Texas A&M? What about after Alabama (we beat them, LSU did not, BTW)? Mizzou? Taking Florida State down to the wire?

What happened is we came into that game in Baton Rouge ready to whip some arse and believing we could and would. Things went bad early and what happened at half is our team decided it was going to fight and not quit like in 2012. The team came out, fought its arse off and the season and program righted itself.

Between LSU and Alabama you didn't play a team as good as either and you know it.

Ole Miss beat us in an upset, they call it that because it is not what would happen 9/10 times. I don't think anyone could say that Ole Miss is better than LSU overall.

Mizzou is an East team, A&M isn't good. And then as I said all bets are off in the Iron Bowl.

I still think at Tiger Stadium we still run all over you.

This is a thread discussing hypotheticals. You are using a game you won on a miracle to show you vastly improved and i don't think it supports your conclusion. Beating an injured UGA team, with a last second heave that bounced of 2 defenders, in auburn doesn't make me think you are exponentially better.

No, this is a thread discussing perceptions.

Auburn won. That's all that matters.

At the time Georgia played Auburn, that was one of the healthiest points they had all season. There was a lot of posters here that thought Georgia would win based on simply that.
