Oh really? What if that coach did what Saban did?

I don't rememeber the time line. How long after his first title at bama did you wait until you comissioned the statue?

Looked it up, it was for hs first title. I guess that answers your question of would we do it if a coach did what saban did, because at the tiem he'd won one. Chiz won one, we didn't build a statue.

I feel like you think i'm attacking you for this, i'm not, i'm just saying we at auburn don't build statues for coaches that are still coaching. We do other goofy shite, but not that.

They're made from asphalt to honor our rich highway engineering history.

We have (3) statues of our Heisman winners and a bust of John Heisman outside the stadium

I don't think we will ever have a statue of a coach. Not the AU style.
-------------------------------------------------

I'm honestly surprised that y'all haven't done something like a statue to honor Coach Shug Jordan .I know the stadium bares his name, but a statue would be nice, too. Hell, he was the head coach for nearly 25 years and even coached basketball for a while. But the most important thing is that he was a truly fine man and represented Auburn with integrity and class.....and while I'm on the subject, y'all should do something similar for Coach Joel Eaves. He was a close friend of my uncle, and I knew him well as a boy, and there's not been a finer man that I've ever known...they don't make men like them any more.

We don't do statutes of our coaches.

I don't think too many programs would - especially for one who had only coached 36 games..........

Well, Heisman did coach at Auburn. AU is the only school where Heisman coached for which a Heisman Trophy winner has played.

Absolutely, that is not an Auburn tradition. But I have a question for you: when you refer to the other goofy shite, would you admit that building a statue commemorating a player who spent less than 6 months on campus and hadn't graduated is one of those other goofy things? If so, I think we are all on the same page here.

It's not that damn funny. At least we've never fired a coach before he ever coached a game....:coughBAMAcough:

I'm not talking about the size. It'd be nice to have a statue of them with a brief bio and accomplishment at the bottom so visitors (and young barners) would know a little of Auburn's history...just an opinion.

9 months? Why don't you just tell us how long he was on campus before the statue went up instead of deflecting the meat of the question.

He was enrolled at Auburn for a 1 year when he won the championship. Not sure how long after that the statue was erected.

He roamed the sidelines longer than Mike Price did at Alabama

I did not like naming the field after Dye.

It is either the field or the stadium.

Dye did more for AU football than any single man in AU history.

Are these people really reverting to statue trash talk? Is this how far they have dropped?
