Yes sir. I wouldn't have been at a multitude of other colleges, as I was cocky prick at 18 and rushed at A&M because I felt entitled to drinking and pussy, but was thoroughly underwhelmed. A&M is very bad at Greek life, especially frats. So glad I didn't though. It would have really limited me at A&M.

I was greek at A&M and it didn't limit me at all. It only limits you if you allow it to.

you'll find nothing but class from a majority of the frats in the SEC.

I've heard the SAE's at Alabama are worse than most when it comes to coke though, so that's why I was wondering. I'm pledging SAE in the fall, and I went to some parties last fall and in the spring and never really saw a huge coke problem, and most of my older friends that are SAE's don't mess with it

No. Cargo shorts weren't allowed in the frats I rushed or hung around. Frats at A&M don't have the diversity of what you have because they are so small, they are probably more in line with what you would stereotypically consider 'good'. I've heard from sorostitutes from OU especially(I'm from Dallas I knew hundreds) that the frats at A&M were 'good' they just didn't have 'good guys'. Meaning they did all the fun crap that most frats do, but they can't attract enough guys to join in. There are just a lot better and more rewarding ways to spend your time at A&M, and guys know it.

Sigma Nu too. I liked the guys at both, I just got a bid from SAE first and took it.

I had some Fiji's from Arkansas brag to me about how they poured beer on Aggies walking underneath them at Jerry World and got kicked out. Behavior like that is really encouraged by a lot of frats and that is where they really go wrong and in mass numbers. My time with SEC frats at Gulf Shores and Panama City Beach were very enjoyable. I knew some Ole Miss and Auburn guys from high school on each trip that I ran in to, and had a great time. Still, each group of frat guys has someone that takes themselves too seriously. They get drunk, act like assholes, and hide being the solidarity of their frat. It happens without fail.

I agree about that negative aspect of frats you described. The people in my fray and others that took themselves seriously were incredibly annoying. I disagree however with the sentiment that frat members are "buying friends" which is a common insult. I know many frat members who were active for 2 years, made some good friends, and got out as an active because they weren't gung ho over it and could still visit the house when they wanted to.

As for "blacking out", I could never understand how it could happen until it happened to me once. I was a light drinker late in high school so I didn't have a big tolerance early on college. I went from sober to dangerously drunk in probably a 30 minute span during a swap when active were pouring hard liquor down out throats. I had little to eat that day leading up to it and blacked out yet kept functioning for a couple of hours in which I don't remember. I ended up in the hospital that night and am lucky I didn't quietly gobto sleep somewhere or I may have died. Alcohol under the wrong conditions is perfectly capable or blacking you out or worse all by itself which is why I often found the "I was roofied" myth a little too convenient when it's used.

Not really sure on Sigma Nu, but at SAE there's a good bit from Mobile, but there's still a pretty good mix. Last pledge class had I think 13 from the Mobile area out of about 40 pledges

While I didn't fraternize, I had a bunch of friends who did. I thought KAs were probably the best during my time in AU.
