I'm not going to flip this in a few posts and do what I'm good at...

Legit curious...what are the expectations this season? Is there a certain number of W's you want to see out of your staff or you turn on them? How big of a concern do you have over QB development right now as a whole?

In a nutshell, what are your overall expectations for the season and is there any way you would want a change at the top at the end of the season?

Thanks

IMO we go 7-5. I have never really been a Gus fan, but I can say that there's no way Jacobs makes a change.

What about in league play TT? No worse than .500 or no worse than 3-5?

We were on the verge last year of a good season and a shittier season. We were lost at QB and that hurt us on both sides of the ball. At this point, if anyone gives you an expectation, there really isnt anything to substantiate it, until we see how our QB play evolves

I'd guess we'd win between 6-9 games. Don't think we are better or worse than that. Plenty of talent on the roster, but still concerned about the QB position and depth at RB.

Now that that is out of the way.

I have been concerned about Gus and Lashlee's ability to develop QB's for a while.

I like Gus and think they have a ceiling of 9 wins and a floor of 6 wins. I will have to see how the season plays out to make an opinion on some of your questions.

I am not into firing all the time. If there are signs of progress as a team, and our offense doesn't look like last year then I am good. We have one of the toughest schedules in CFB.

I am ready to start watching games now. Can we move it all up a week please?

I will say I want a proven QB coach on staff.

Is this season viewed as sort of a "put up or shut up" year for Gus, or are we still a season away from that?

As an outsider, it will be interesting to watch you guys and see how your team follows a 2-6 league mark from a season ago.

Auburn has one of the toughest schedules in the country. It will be a struggle for them to get bowl eligible, imo. They have to play all the west teams....Georgia & Vandy in the east....and the #2 team in Clemson.

We have just as much talent all over the field as anyone. Now, getting the most out of that talent, while simultaneously getting at least average to good QB play, is the key.

If we can gel as a team, and find our rhythm, as TJ Neal said, "The sky is the limit"

I think the D will be a little better, and while I'm not confident at QB, I do think we'll be better prepared for the uncertainty in that position than last season. We weren't good for a lot of reasons last season, but the year was derailed before it really started by JJ not being able to play football.

This is something not talked about much in relation to Gus.

When Arkansas hired him in 2006, I wasn't that excited. Mainly because our issues then were developing QBs.

Looking at Gus's history, none of his QBs he coached in high school ever amounted to much in the college game. Mustain was obviously his highest rates, but even he failed to develop and was a career long back up.

Lashlee was one of those Shiloh QBs as well. There was a period there when Shiloh QBs were breaking records left and right, but just never amounted to anything after high school. This led me to question the actual development going on under Gus. If that makes sense.

I agree, however the first 5 games are at home which gives us at least the chance to gain momentum and gel and really live into an identity, which is kind of what happened in 2013. It took us a few games to gel, but when we found out what we could really execute on, we were unstoppable on offense. Not saying that's going to happen this year, but the early schedule gives us an opportunity we might not have if we played A&M and LSU on the road in the first month.

We're gonna have to be hitting on all cylinders to even have a shot at the back half of the schedule where we go on the road to Oxford, Athens, and Tuscaloosa.

Gus wont be fired unless there is an epic collaspe on and off the field, like chizik. Next year is his put up or shut up year. A 10-11 win season will give him two more years for the put up or shut up year.

The closeness of several of the games last year gives some hope, but again all dependent on QB play. The D is decent but not dominating enough to compensate for turnovers and numerous 3 and outs

My biggest issue with HUNH style coaches. To me, it leaves your defense out to dry. I've never understood why some coaches don't slow down to try and find a rhythm on offense, while also giving your defense a breather. 3 and outs with HUNH teams literally could only take 5 actual minutes, and under 1 minute of game time.

It does make sense and why, although I feel Gus can make an offense roar, he needs a QB coach to always have a guy developed to run it. He fails in that aspect of coaching in my opinion.

I think he does a good job in other aspects and I love his offense when it is hitting all cylinders. He is an inexperienced HC and deserves some time to make mistakes.

I think some of the coaches he is compared to, right or wrong, have more years of experience to refine their craft. He has proven he can win in this conference. We should be a little more patient to see if he has hit his potential, or if he can grow some more.

7-6, 8-5ish

I want to see improvement on defense finally, a team that competes, and an offense that looks like it would be capable with a decent QB.

Then I want to see Jarrett Stidham in Auburn next year.
